Can't judge any trade until you see what we get with the Bkn pick either by trade or draft - or if we do trade IT and/or Crowder and Zizic. It takes years to determine the winner in a trade, but not in here. What if we draft the next star, what if we traded it for George and he signed long term here. Way to early to judge. Now if it were the Browns go ahead and judge it since we know they can't draft.

Doesn't matter... we still should have extracted more value.

Wasn't Kyrie almost as explosive from the get go after his knee injury?

No. His first half a dozen games back he looked pretty bad, and it took him about a month and a half from his first game back to really look like himself. He came back in mid-December and it wasn't till February-March he started looking like his superstar self. I remember being pretty concerned during that period.

If you think of IT on the same timeline he might not look like last year till March. Which would be OK from a playoff perspective. But of course they are very different types of injuries.

(Edited to say -- saw many people made this point above, I hadn't seen those posts when I posted this).

People think 2016 was a breeze just because we won.

I remember as 95% worrying and complaining about the Warriors insane record. Basically when LeBron returned we thought we were going to be the defacto 96 Bulls of the current era and we’ve been bitter and whiny about that not happening(to the point of turning in several players at times) since the get go

Okay. Now take off the disagree or I will go after you eventhough you were good to me in the agree/disagree ratio up until this point.

I guess IT's lack of burst is more glaring because that's what made him the player that he is. Kyrie's dribbling and herky jerky moves made it seem much less obvious.

You would have to change the premise of your post if you want that disagree gone. If anything the two situations are very similar. People were saying Kyrie is too weak and he won't get back before the finals. His finishing was off, his 3 ball was nonexistent, and his legs looked rickety when he came back.

If anything IT has shown more so far.

Most encouraging thing I have seen from IT so far is he got everywhere he wanted against GS.

I'm not sure why people are so panicky now. Cavs got beat down in 2016 and the Cavs fired Blatt and Kyrie looked like an old man.

I think we should try to get Robin Lopez and Justin Holiday and roll. Long wing good defense and sweet 3 and a big guy who can shoot a little and protect the paint.

It's true that there is some chance that the trade still does work out -- say we hit it really lucky in the lottery and IT comes back fully to his old self and he re-signs with us. That doesn't change the fact that the trade was a very *low risk* trade for the Celtics and a very *high risk* trade for us. Which means, as Sir'Dom says, that we could have and should have gotten more when we did it.

Why on earth did we take this IT deal , could have held on to Kyrie and got something better or wait it out......IT's defense is god awful he is getting abused out there

He just had to get his legs under him..Which I find ironic...

are you from this world ? or this country at least ? how in the world you will make a professional athlete who is a millionaire against his will ? and I am talking about a guy who was not answering phone calls from management for training camp plans. We could try but things would get ugly which would decrease his trade value which is bad for us and maybe ruin his career which is not any good for us.

stop living in the past and see the reality. IT3 is what we have and he's not a bad player, probably one of the best in the league at times and regardless what we have to support.

We should have, yet we didnt.

The trade is over. This conversation is stupid. Unless you have a time machine, what's the fucking point to relitigating this trade for the 10th time?

We have what we have. Move on.

I moved on.... never dwelled on it... was just pointing it out.

I only dwell on Lue. But seriously don't tell me to move on... I'll off yo ass like right now.

I now understand why every team that’s had him has let him go. You can’t hide him on d at all.
