Should we trade Isaiah Thomas at the trade deadline?

As bad as he is on defense, Thomas is not the reason we suck on that side.

We're just awful overall on D since last season. It's a combination of effort, scheme and personnel. We can't single out anyone at this point.

Dude still talking about Boston and he’s the worst defensive player on the floor. Stfu

They never show you the “was it like this in Boston” type questions because they want to keep the drama up to a 10. IT can easily just say no comment but he’s yet to pass on a question lol

I agree with this. In our championship year we had 3 guys to cover for Kyrie in JR, Shump, and Delly. Shump is hurt but has regressed, JR has regressed, and Delly is gone. We also had TT and Mozgov to cover for Love. TT has also regressed and no replacement for Mozgov. Lebron was also helping to cover anything else and taking on more on defense, he isnt right now.

The two most important parts of a defense is having a guy that can defend at the point of attack (guard PGs) and someone to cover the rim (a center). We dont have either of those. Crowders job is to take pressure off Lebron.

Aldridge asked for a trade. The spurs worked things out with him then signed him to an extension and he’s been great this year. Fuck the front office for not figuring it out.

This is the narrative everyone is running with like it’s an apples to apples comparison. Look up LaMarcus Aldridge history with Portland and why he left. He was upset because Lillard was getting equal shares in team marketing and he felt like he was being fazed out. Like Kyrie, Portland fans were shocked at his exit.

Sure Pop can salvage the situation with Kyrie but how would he deal with the level of control LeBron has over the franchise? No point in even speculating but Aldridges issue in SA was strictly basketball fit and the talk they had obviously helped because he looks emotionally engaged and is playing really well.

Everyone can blame IT all they want for our defensive struggles but just let the fact that lebron is ranked dead last in nba player defense ranking

He is abysmal on D. We all knew that but seeing it every night really brings home how much of a liability he is, by some distance the worst in the league. Consider how well drilled Boston were and they still found it difficult to hide him. Cavs have no chance with Lebron playing as he is on D, Love being who he is and JR struggling to contain anyone.

The way this roster is built currently 6th man might be the best way to use him, especially as he is still fighting his way back to proper shape.

Lue will have to make some changes in the starting line up, his job is on the line, can not continue as he is.

That is a plus bench unit for sure but the first unit is horrible and demonstrates the top-level talent shortage we have on this team. Rose, Crowder, and Zizic are all players that should not be really starting for a playoff team. A good playoff team can afford to start maybe one of those kind of guys but three is a disaster.

When you try to put together starting units for this team you quickly see that we have a talent issue in the starting unit. We really have to start IT at PG if the alternatives are Calderon or Rose, but we don't have anything close to the defensive personnel we would need to have a decent defensive unit featuring IT and Love. We would really need to start Shump to even begin to address that defensive problem, and that raises its own issues.

I like how you made the sarcastic "our starters give no effort and are terrible - replace them all!" post - and then still managed to leave Cedi entirely out of the rotation.

LeBron and IT give up about 1.25 points per possession together on the floor. I'm not sure if it's because they're trying to tank the defense since it's such a terrible scheme, but that's literally the worst defense in the NBA.

So far other team's O playing IT like a pinball machine on the pick'n'roll. Cavs bad D started before his return but he sure as hell is not the solution.

LeBron is purposely trying to tank the defense.

IT is just bad and short.

RIP at Durant mainly but also Curry and Klay getting the switch onto IT. uncontested 3 ball will rain.

The name of the thread is welcome IT but boy how do I wish that it was farewell IT..
IMO, as long as we have this guy in our roster, we cannot put a sustainable defense together. Let's hope Koby recognizes that as well.

Maybe he can tell everyone about Boston some more. I want to hear about his tribute video more too.
Maybe the Cavs should do a tribute video to his rehab...
