Do you know technically what the Cleveland Clinic is doing that the Celtics weren't? I just wonder why it would vary so much.

While it's reasonable to assume Boston kept Boston's self-interest in mind... Cleveland Clinic is also one of the best/most technologically advanced hospitals in the world.

ITs injury is still such a mystery to me. I hear some people talk about him like he’ll never be the same again. Yet plenty of guys have ACL tears and they come back just fine. What’s so different about a hip? He should be able to get rehab on it, wear some extra padding and be fine. I don’t know what the worry is all about.

Hips are more like achilles injuries, in that, they can really sap athleticism permanently when they're bad enough.

Also, given the way he plays through contact in the paint, the question of his durability will remain an issue as well.

Hopefully the news we've gotten so far is accurate, and IT is on his way back to full health.

He should heal 100%. The issue is they found something else with the hip a protruding bone that will inflame the area. It has never bothered him before and it had nothing to do with the current injury.

The reason some thought he should get surgery was because that bone could re-injure himself because it will aggravate the scar tissue. But both Boston and Cleveland Clinic seem to think the surgery was not needed.

That said, hips are way more difficult to come back from because of the amount of force put on the joint. They are difficult as foot injuries but for different reason.

My opinion is he will be near 100% when he comes back and probably could play a bit now but not worth the risk. That said, not a huge fan of IT but I hope he proves me wrong. Love the person, hate the defensive game.

Its the amount of share force put on the joint, but you are 100% correct. Achilles is worse, I have yet to see someone come back to 100% from a torn achilles, but have seen it before with hips.

Remember, Bo Jackson's injury was sever because of a syndrome that caused the tissue to die, it wasn't the initial hip injury that did him in.

PS, way off subject, but for you young one's, Bo Jackson might have been the single greatest physical specimen i have ever seen play a sport including Lebron. Just incredible. Watch tape, it is worth it, lol.

Best Techmo Bowl player ever.

No, he didn't.

IT with Crowder and Bradley carried that team.

Crowder and Bradley deserve just as much credit, if not more.

Therefore, all IT and Irving comparisons make little to no sense.

I definitely wouldn't say more... obviously, their 3+D abilities were key.

Isiah carried the offensive load. Thier second-best shot creator was Smart.

But to say Isiah did not deserve the credit for Boston's regular season success is not genuine and is like not giving LBJ credit for the Cavs in 2009 because of Delonte and Mo or Parker. They were good pieces but the entire team hinged on LBJ making things happen.

I'm not downplaying how good or important those guys were. I think for the Cavs Crowder is just as important as IT because he relieves LBJ of defensive duties.

But Isiah was insane last year and left everything he had on the court. He was an MVP candidate that averaged 28 PPG and 6 assists. Which is incredible.

I can't wait for him to get right. I think he settles our lineup a lot and our starting lineup and bench will be terrifying for other teams.

The reason some thought he should get surgery was because that bone could re-injure himself

The accidentally incorrect phrasing of this made me laugh because...

On an unrelated sidenote...since my son learned to talk, whenever he talks about somebody else injuring him he always says, "You hurt myself" or "Emma (his cousin) kicked myself in the leg," or my favorite one so far has been "You pinched myself in the weewee" while changing him.

I've never corrected him on it because it always cracked me up.

Yes, he had a good--if not great--offensive year.

But, the ESPN bullshit of seeing scoring as more important than defense and rebounding is a fucking shitshow of bias. They have ruined the MVP award. For example, Draymond Green is by FAR the most important Warrior, but Curry gets far more credit because of his shooting. It's bullshit.

No, IT did NOT deserve MVP consideration, and no he did NOT "carry" that team. It was truly a "team" effort, and a great display of coaching. IT's supposed MVP status was purely the result of the Boston media machine. Plain and simple.

There are VERY few players that actually "carry" teams. Maybe 5 total in the league. IT is not one of them.

However, I DO think he's a very good offensive player, and I hope he returns 100%.

I wonder how common a protruding bone is. Have other players come back from a similar injury with this issue?

The tear in the hip yes, protruding bone, not sure, never heard of it.

Keep in mind he had a center fall on him and tore the hip labrum, has nothing to do with the bone. Unrelated, same area.

This might be the most mis-reported injury ever. I didnt have a clear handle on it until recent articles after the trade. And he played through it for two months. They said he re-injured it, but he probably continued to tear the labrum and continued to re-injure himself until he shut it down with too much pain. And the Labrum is the cartilage around the hip joint. The injury is painful, but not performance issue. Once healed it will be 100%, the thing is getting it healed so he doesnt have the pain moving forward.
