Jae Crowder, See Ya When We See Ya

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I love Crowder for his value, but my fear is he gets moved to NY for Melo.

Crowder would be a great piece to get back for the Knicks.

We have far more firepower to make deals now than Houston does.

I personally prefer Crowder to Melo, but I could see a scenario in which Crowder was seen as a conduit to adding Melo.

I feel like Crowder will fit with James well. Giving James a really strong perimeter defender to work with should be fun to watch. I hope we keep him, too. I think the Cavs could at least make GSW work on offense this time around. Sigh.

I'm fine with cutting Edy, I would give Felder one more year especially with IT on the team.
For sure, we can probably throw both at the same time and fool the refs into thinking there's only one PG on the court.

That would be the dumbest thing the Cavs could do.

Trading away a young two-way SF on a cheap contract till 2020, who shoots 40 percent from deep and can give James some legitimate rest... for an aging iso scorer and subpar defender in Melo.

But we are not getting Melo for Jae Crowder anyway and anything of value on top of that would not be worth it.

The only reason for that trade would be convincing Lebron to stay in CLE with one of his Banana Boat guys...

Considering Melo is only willing to waive his NTC to go to Houston we have nothing to worry about. Crowder is a + defender who hit 2 + 3s per game last season I doubt we move him he's exactly what we need.

I hope Crowder is everything Shump was supposed to be. A great defender who can spot up and knock down shots.
He'll have more open looks now. He seems like a bigger stronger version of Shump.

Crowder: 46/40/81 6'6 235 27
Shump: 41/36/79 6'5 220 27

Better shooting across the board last year. I like it.

In that case... we would've basically swapped Kyrie for Thomas, Melo, Developmental Big, and the Nets pick when all the dust settles.

Pros:
The bench unit should be able to operate w/o Lebron.
More rest for Lebron.
We can make a big move w/ the Nets pick, KLove, or whatever else on the roster outside of Lebron.

Cons:
Doesn't improve defense
Isaiah's health is a wild card.
We have to pay or trade Isaiah.

I would want to add Danny Green somehow if we went that route. Otherwise, we won't win with the same out gun them mentality that we had last season.

IT makes WAY more sense as a trade piece for Melo than Crowder.

If we are serious about beating GSW this year, then we're keeping Crowder. He's a 2-way wing on a cheap deal.

IT + TT for Melo is the deal to make. Melo plugs in as the 4, Love moves to the 5.

Rose
JR
LBJ
Melo
Love

I highly doubt we win in the finals with that lineup and the odds of Rose staying healthy up to the finals aren't good. I'm just not comfortable with Rose manning the point when you consider his weaknesses are dependability and three point shooting. I like that Thomas can fit into Kyrie's role as a scorer and three point threat.

The hope would be that the Cavs did their due dilligence on Thomas and his health. If he's damaged goods, then you do what you gotta do to move him for the best possible fit: Melo.

Do you think they trade the Nets pick for a star before the deadline?

(1) There's no team "on paper" that will look like it's capable of beating GSW. So, I don't see any point to making that the measuring stick. The better question is: does a particular move make us a better all around team?

(2) No, I don't think we trade the Nets pick...UNLESS LBJ commits to the Cavs long term.

Can we nickname him predator? I can envision a moment in June Draymond flexes after a play and Mr. Predator barks at him

mfw we traded Kyrie NOT Love for Jae Crowder

If he can be solid defensively it allows LeBron to really roam and make plays.

Well assuming Iggy finally shoots like crap against us.
