INDEPENDENCE, Ohio -- Newly minted guard Jarrett Jack grew up on the same street as Browns cornerback Joe Haden, so when Jack agreed to sign with the Cavaliers last week, he made a call to his old pal straight away.
"Which one of us is going to be the first one to take them (Cleveland) to the top?" Jack asked Haden.
Jack and fellow new signee Earl Clark both proclaimed hope that the Cavaliers will be the first to lead Cleveland to its first title since 1964 -- despite the fact that the Cavaliers won just 24 games last season.
"That's the thing that drives all of us," Jack said at a news conference Friday. ... The one thing I really learned in this league is there's two types of guys -- there are guys who love basketball and guys who love the lifestyle. From what I know of these guys they really love basketball."
Jack, who inked a four-year, $25 million deal, was signed to be a veteran leader for All-Star point guard Kyrie Irving, a tough shooter who instantly improves the Cavaliers' backcourt immensely.
"I'm excited to get him on the court with our young backcourt," Cavaliers general manager Chris Grant said.
Clark, who signed a two-year, $9 million contract, will be relied upon mostly for his defensive skills. The 6-10 forward can guard everyone from agile wing players to centers.
"I'm excited to be here and excited to go out and play some defense," Clark said.
Chimed in Grant with a grin: "Good answer."
I'd take Jarrett Jack over 12 starting Point Guards in the league without hesitation. This guy is a bulldog and a phenomenal addition.
name them.
I can give you eleven starters that are definitely worse matches for the Cavaliers:
1. Jeff Teague- Decent, not as great of a leader, would cause problems with Irving.
2. Jose Calderon - Old, bad defender.
3. Ty Lawson - Size problem with our back court.
4. Brandon Knight - You heard me.
5. Steve Nash - So done.
6. Mario Chalmers - Check the stats.
7. Ray Felton - Fat.
8. Rondo - Coach killer, injured, wouldn't be a third guard.
9. Trey Burke - Size, May end up sucking.
10. Jennings - would never be a third guard without drama.
11. Damien Lillard - Size issues, wouldn't mesh with an already short back court.
name them.
Lin
Stuckey
Nate Robinson
Ridnour
Bayless
Chalmers
Kidd (now)
Shved
Andre Miller (now)
Brandon Knight (I know det cant start 2 pg's)
Kyle Lowry (over rated)
Isiah Thomas (not the hof one)
im sorry to get off topic, but i read a comment about when kyrie broke knights ankles on that step back that that play was pre-planned... and when i watched the replay, of not only the step back breaker, but even the 1st time knight fell when kyrie went passed him baseline.. and both times, if you do look closely, it looks like he did kinda fall for no reason... especially on the step back, knight did something funny with his foot that made his fall look awkward.. but at the same time, that could just be a result of kyries wizardry.

what do you think?
Kidd is the "starting COACH" of the BK nets....
Terrible. Knight has nothing to gain by embarrassing himself on national television and ruining his marketing potential on purpose. Terrible.
right lol. especially since hes been on the wrong end of many embarassing basketball plays to be on the bad end of... but that could have just been for entertainment purposes and to "fuel" a long time rivalry.. or something? i dont know. im just playing devils advocate. i think it was kyries wizardry that left knights ankles in a cast.
