Jim Schwartz: 2023 NFL Asst. COY

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
There was a stretch where they started off very poorly to start the game on the road before settling in

@ Colts- TD, Punt, TD
@ Seahawks- TD, TD, FG (2nd was 41 yard drive coming off a Browns fumble)
@ Ravens- TD, FG, Punt
@ Denver- TD, Fumble, TD
@ Rams- FG, TD, Missed FG

Interesting plot twist: Greg Newsome appears happy.

You're telling me NFL team defensive stats aren't smart enough to differentiate between offensive points and points scored by special teams/defenses? I always wondered, but this is crazy. Maybe AWS can help.

The "short field" excuses are lazy though. All defenses have to deal with that stuff.

While I agree, the Browns defense was frequently put into a short field more than most teams.

The Browns must, at all costs, limit turnovers next year. At bare minimum, stop leading the league in turnovers

Vic Fangio who a lot on here wanted last year, just got let go by Miami

Their defensive players are tweeting “unlocked padlock” emojis. Holland posted a video of him kicking rocks :chuckle:

At least browns defensive players seem to speak very highly of and respect Schwartz

Fangio is a great coach but he needs players who fit his system to be successful. If he has to players he’s got one of the best defenses in the league. If not it’s pretty bad. Schwartz seems to be able to succeed with anyone as long as they have a top pass rusher.

whatever Schwartz does, priority one is have a strategy against pre-snap motion and misdirection. there are some plays (like the Chiefs death blow) that are damn near a gamble but every loss where the defense fell down had that flavor, including the Texans game
