I mean Donovan might as well be the coach cause we don't run anything complex as far as offensive sets.

So perhaps he feels empowered by such???

But even our soft spoken guys like JA have been questioning our adjustments (or lack of) on a game to game basis.

Just don't see how you can lose by 23 & 38 points in the first round playoffs and keep your job... unless he were to pull a rabbit out of his ass against the Celtics.
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying he loves playing him or would want him to be his coach for the next 2-3 years

All of us can talk opinion, logic, our interpretation of what the coach does well and what he doesn’t do well on this Baird together, but we simply don’t know at this time what Donovan thinks from his own in the cockpit viewpoint of the past 18 months

Every single person on this board need to understand that that they have any actual insight into what Donovan Mitchell thinks about JBB.

As fans we project our own feelings about coaches, players and teammates far more than we want to admit.

Could he love him, like him, or hate him as a coach? All possible. We simply don’t know.

There are a lot of rumors out there that get repeated by pretty reputable NBA reporters that questions how happy Mitchell is with Bickerstaff. While that's not confirmation, it's alot of smoke.

Mitchell has played under Quinn Snyder and Rick Pitino so he knows what good coaching looks like.

Also I think Windy has said that Dan Gilbert is back to being very involved with the team again.

Can you cite any of those rumors and support their veracity?

Also, Quinn Snyder hasn’t proven to be that good of an NBA coach either. Nor do we know how Mitchell felt about him (positively or negatively) by that final year that Snyder, Gobert, and Mitchell all left the organization

It shouldn’t offend anyone or make anyone nervous to simply admit that we don’t know what is in Mitchell’s mind when it comes to JBB.

Now the Dan thing, the a totally different matter.

Idk I think maybe you are misinterpreting my post as either being in support of JBB or as me saying that Mitchell supports him.

Game 7 was well coached.
The question has never been all the sensationalistic, emotion based JBB is the worse coach in the NBA worst coach of all time nonsense. I mean for some people it has been but that gets supported with a tunnel vision that doesn’t account for the fact that many of the supporting examples for that argument are things that almost every fanbase criticizes their own coach for.

The more important question is whether he’s the right coach for this roster and a coach who can be a net positive in the playoffs. To this point, in total, I think that answer is no, he’s not.

A whole new seven game series coming up will only reinforce that or possibly shock and shift that in real time(certainly not counting on it)

Question how would this series been if we had a healthy team like, Orlando, Wade ? Allen ? how healthy was Mitchell despite his scoring outburst, Orlando was pretty much fully healthy, not sure how much different Harris would have made………

Not sure what coach in the league would have did any better with our injury situation, I for one don’t have a problem with JBB, whoever is the next coach, he going to have the same people questioning his coaching strategy, there people complaining he didn’t play Merrill in the second half ,even know we out score them by 18 in the 3 quarter and won the 4th quarter…….

Now with all that said, I’m on the Mitchell whatever he wants ……that would keep him in Cleveland long term, even if that means getting rid of JBB…..

Directly citing is going to be hard for me since I listen to a lot of podcasts but it's definitely has come up on Zach Lowe's podcast and Windy's hoop collective podcast. They never directly says Mitchell dislikes JBB and wants him fired but they tend to say that if Mitchell does sign an extension that they expect a new coach will be a part of it.

Less reliable sources like the guys on UCSS says it more directly and that they have been hearing Mitchell doesn't like Bickerstaff.

Edit: I was just watching YouTube clips and this came up. Watch Donovan Mitchell basically interrupt JBB in his post game speech to the team and set the expectations higher. It's about at the 1 minute mark. They subtitled it. It didn't sound like someone that was happy with what he was hearing from JBB.

The national guys barely follow this team nor do they have any idea what Mitchell wants vs dislike, it is all pure speculation or assumption. Even on some of Lowe's podcasts he has admitted to barely paying attention to this team earlier on. I take anything said from the national guys with a grain of salt... That is just me...

The local guys on UCSS (Ultimate Cleveland sports show on YouTube) are the ones who are more bold about saying it. Like Jason Lloyd says he is hearing that Mitchell doesn't even want to be here.

Like Fedor is going to be a mouth piece for the organization. Not many other local guys left to read or listen to now.

Jason Lloyd has pushed the narrative for over a year now that Don is gone with no insight into why, as far as I can tell, and Fedor can be critical. I believe Lloyd has recently changed his tune with Don now because, again, financially, it only makes sense for Don to sign this summer, the Knicks are not going to pursue him, and no way in hell would Don want to go to BK. (I have never listened to UCSS, is that with Adam the Bull?)

I watched Strus in an interview after I forget what game, and he did not seem to be pleased with the coaching, but that was after a L, and players can be caught up in the moment. Regardless, we will all find out the future of Don and JBB soon enough. I do not think JBB is an awful coach, and I also do not think he is the best coach in the league, obviously. A change may be good, but I am glad I do not make these decisions. But JBB did somethings right today, that is for sure, and the team won 99 regular-season games over the past two years and is in the second round. As others have mentioned this is probably the biggest win for the Cavaliers in non-LBJ years for over 30 years. That means something. Philly and Milwaukee are home right now with their big coach hires. Again, I am sure the front office is well aware of what the players and their agents think of JBB at this point, and that will factor in as soon as the season ends. I would also be shocked if Koby is fired.

I just do not think there are a lot of folks in the media that really know what is going on in Don's head or what his family wants to do at the moment, especially with coaching. I look at it as just purely speculation and assumptions to make headlines, so I tune it out. Ultimately, most players want to maximize their financial security, especially with a shaky knee, and the FO will listen to what Don wants. As far as the coaching is concerned, JBB can also disprove the naysayers wrong in this upcoming series as well. And lastly, I support this Front Office. I think they do a nice job and I believe they will make the right decision with the coaching so I am not really concerned about it...

Yea Jason Lloyd has been saying Mitchell is gone for a while but he has always said it's what he is hearing from his sources and through the grapevine of what Mitchell's people are saying. From the show he never seems to be pushing it but just putting it out there. He knows he gets push back from it.

UCSS is a YouTube show that is live every weekday from 11am-1pm. It's produced by WKYC and they air a 30 minute show on WKYC on Fridays at 12:30pm. Adam the Bull is on it but it's a rotations of like 6 or 7 people. Jason Lloyd, Jay Crawford, Garrett Bush, and Tyvis Powell are the other people on it that people probably have heard of. They usually sit in 3 or 4 people on set and just talk Browns, Cavs, Guardians, and sometimes some Buckeyes football. They are pretty candid with stuff and all seem to have their own sources for different things. They also bring on former players and some of the other people that cover Cleveland sports to talk about stuff.

Cool and thanks. I am familiar with it now because Crawford, never listened to it. Will give it a go this week.

Man people really do have short memories here, one win against an awful Orlando team at home and suddenly he’s a good coach…? We got hella lucky Orlando are an awful road team. They couldn’t shoot for shit the second half.

JB still has not won a road game in the play offs

His teams still struggle to hit 100 points in playoff games and that’s now over a very large sample size.

We could have won this series 4-1 / 4-2 even with the injuries. Orlando are really really bad. And we have Donovan Mitchell

The iso heavy offense is garbage, objectively. We also play so fucking slow it’s excruciating. Against a team that presses like Orlando does you need to push the pace get the ball up the floor quickly. Not take 8 seconds to get the ball over half court every fricken offense to then jack up a contested 3. How many times this series did Orlando steal the ball off a pick n roll attempt? Just shitty predictable baby simple offense

Go watch the western conference game, we would have gotten smoked by any team in the west 1 through 8 and it’s not even close, Knicks, healthy bucks, 76rs, Miami with a healthy Butler beat us also. We just got lucky we played a dog shit team led by a 22 year old
