This Calderon signing is exciting as being in a rush hour traffic jam.

The Warriors are about to sign Nick Young or Jamal Crawford and bring back their big men. While we get Jose Calderon.

It looks like our main scouting of players is not players from overseas, d-league players, or undrafted players it's former Knicks players.

Warriors trying to sign even more lengthy, two way shooters. We stay signing vet shooters that can't defend. Business as usual. Should check if Derek Fisher also wants to come out of retirement

Lol:lgh (20)::celb (13)::celb (13): Exactly.

Two things about Calderon

- Excellent 3pt shooter
- Doesn't turn the ball over

If Calderon shoots the three better in the Finals than DWill did, that's a help. DWill sucked when it counted. Maybe Calderon can hit a shot here or there in a spot where DWill could not.

Is Calderon some savior? Of course not. But he should be able to shoot better than .125 in the Finals with .111 three-point shooting, which is where DWill was.

Calderon is a career 41% three-point shooter. That's why we got him.

We really need Felder to improve this year, or he might have to go. Not sure Calderon (36 years old) should have the burden of being the full-time backup.

The positive here is that we at least recognize that heading into the season without a plan for a backup point guard in place is untenable.

The negative is everything else.
Like I've said, Calderon is already better than the backup point guard we played with through the entire regular season. Kay Felder, Liggins and whoever were not good enough to hold down the second unit. I have my doubts Felder ever will be good enough.

Calderon is a stop gap signing who can sink threes and facilitate the offense for the second and third units. That's all, but it is something we completely lacked until we picked up Deron Williams and Deron wasn't all that great.

I hate this signing considering what Memphis paid for Evans. You can't play Jose against GS. Evans o. The other hand would have been able to slot a
Into playing opposite Klay Curry Livingston or Iggy

Green and Evans signing with Cedis coming over would've have been a very solid and underrated off-season for us. Now it seems it Melo or bust

You do know the Spurs got Danny Green from the D-League right? Also the Heat got Whiteside from the D-League. Shaune Livingston is also from the D-League. My point is being over the cap is not an excuse. If you scout well you will be able to find good undrafted players, players for overseas,or D-League players. The Spurs do it all. Not mention to Lin and Gortat.

Even Langston Galloway who just got a contract is from the D-League. I would rather have Galloway than Jose C.
Danny Green was a 2nd round draft pick with NBA experience.

Also Greens 8 games at San Antonio( the same season he was cut from the Cavs. Showed very good production.

people tend to want to rewrite history because of Dnanny Greens " I saw the light story"

but his first d league stint was with the Cavs. under contract with the cavs. and his 2nd d League stint was with the Spurs.

October 19, 2010: Waived by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

November 17, 2010: Signed as a free agent with the San Antonio Spurs.

November 23, 2010: Waived by the San Antonio Spurs.

March 16, 2011: Signed a contract for the rest of the season with the San Antonio Spurs

April 2, 2011: Assigned to the Austin Spurs of the D-League.

April 3, 2011: Recalled from the Austin Spurs of the D-League.

July 14, 2015: Signed a multi-year contract with the San Antonio Spurs

Spurs waived Danny Green for roster reasons. As soon as they had room for him they brought him back based on what the saw from him for a week in November.

Shaun Livingston....
Livingston was a number 4 pick in the draft.
He had a very bad injury that many though was career ending in his 3rd season.
The guy had to learn to play a whole new style of basketball.

Livingston played 10 games of d league as part of his rehab.

hardly a D league player.

D-league guys are Matt Barnes, Gerald Green, Hassan Whiteside, Chuck Hayes. Deandre Liggins.

so the d league ... which is guess is now the G league hasnt been able to Develop anyone that's any more than a fringe rotation player.

I think that will start changing as the quality of D league play goes up and NBA teams ramp up their d League investment.

D league is gonna promote any guy who has played a game in the league who has success as "one of theirs"
