I like to keep this simple in my mind. JR on an expiring deal always looked good. JR on a long term deal rarely looked good. However is is probably his last contract in the NBA, so the last year on this deal might not have a good final year like we’ve seen from him in the past.

His brain stepped away from the team after they won the championship..and his brain definitely was missing in the championship game last year.

If he causes problems I would just let him go away from the team until we can move him which could be almost a whole year. I wouldn't buy him out because I think his contract and Hill's contract are real valuable especially in the off-season.

His contract is actually a valuable asset now. He is only guaranteed 3.4 million dollars next year but could bring back a player making like 15-18 million dollars today. The Cavs could use him to bring in an asset in exchange for taking a bad contract, or maybe use him to get off of Tristan's contract somehow in a bigger trade.

There are certainly options out there for JR, just to absorb a contract for an asset.....I definitely wouldn't cut him now.

We are going to owe him the money either way......we aren't going anywhere, might as well ride it out and see if we can't generate an asset from his non-guaranteed last year.
