I would too, but I don’t think Minnesota would. While they’re considering moving Wiggins, I don’t think they’re quite that desperate to do so.I'd do JR, Delly, and Zizic for Wiggins, 2020 top 3 protected 1st, 2022 top 1 protected 1st.

I think you could possibly get a single heavily protected 1st for Wiggins but (2) lightly protected 1sts would absolutely floor me.
Wiggins is overpaid but he's young and can soak up minutes. He's only under contract through 27 years old.....so assuming he is healthy, he's still a competent but overpaid player. You usually do not get a ton back for guys like that, even if they are overpaid. If he were 29, sure but not for someone who is 23, who isn't a total disaster off the court.

I'm not ready to completely give up on Wiggins. We know that he's a talented player. He just hasn't put it all together. Of course he's a huge risk but that's why we put this coaching staff together. Player development. If Wiggins can turn himself into a 20 PPG scorer who's a little more efficient then his contract doesn't look as albatross.
The issue with Wiggins is that he’s 5 years in and he has one of the lowest basketball IQ’s I’ve ever seen.I'm not ready to completely give up on Wiggins. We know that he's a talented player. Even if he did have that potential, which I don't think he does...how do you propose to develop him, Garland, and Sexton (three ball-dominant volume scorers) in parallel? Who's supposed to be the "leader" out of those three guys? Seems like a team that would self-destruct on the court and in the locker room 9 times out of 10.
Totally agree.Feels like unless they are blown away with a lopsided trade in their favor, the Cavs would just hold on to JR and waive him... The 5 million price tag to take KPJ must be their spending spree for the offseason, more prudent than taking more bad contracts longterm and gives them a chance to pay less salary cap taxes...
Wiggins certainly has the talent & potential to be an All Star every year. Sometimes when players get handed big contracts, based on their potential, they lose their motivation to continue working on their game and improving. I don’t know if that’s the case with Wiggins, but he certainly seems to be stagnant in his development.I'm not ready to completely give up on Wiggins. We know that he's a talented player. Given they were able to get a 3rd 1st rounder and take a lottery level talent with it in Kevin Porter Jr.
lessens the need to do more than get rid of Smith and stay out of the tax.
