1. They may not be short but they have no size. That will kill them. No center no rim protection.. Also no depth.
They have a center; one of the best centers in the NBA. They have some rim protection.. Draymond is a better rim protector than Tristan Thompson or Timofey Mozgov ever were.
2. Thompson is a good defender but he is not a dpoy quality defender nor is current iggy.
Klay is absolutely a DPOY quality defender. He got more DPOY votes than LeBron James and is one of the best perimeter defenders in the league.
Iggy is an excellent defender, even today.
Also curry is not a good defender.
Sure he is... If good means considerably better than average, then he's absolutely a good defender.
He is a poor defender and that's with being surrounded by good defenders and having the luxury of defending the worst offensive player from the opposing team. His trash defense is why we won the title this year.
That's totally not true.
Curry was second in the league in DRPM behind Ricky Rubio in 2014-15 for his All-NBA level defense. By any definition of the term, Curry is a "good defender."
Can he guard Westbrook and Kyrie? No. But who can?
3. Their defense is much worse period.
No it isn't.
No bogut
He averaged 16 MPG in the playoffs, and was killing them in the PnR. C'mon. They added DURANT.
no izeli
Ezeli's defense is what kept him off the floor. He was one of the worst defenders in the playoffs. Not sure what you're talking about here.
no center at all.
Draymond Green.
Green can't play center 48 mins per game.
He doesn't have to....
I'm going to stop here..
I think a lot of people are really not being objective here or just aren't familiar with the Warriors personnel. They are much better with this trade. I'm not going to argue ref advantages or illegal screens; who the fuck knows what will happen with all of that. What I do know is that the Cavs will have a difficult time trapping/doubling again, which was a big part of our defensive strategy.
p.s.
Folks need to STOP saying they don't have depth.
They have Iggy and Livingston, and they also have the room exception and vet min deals are possible. They could bring back Barbosa and Varejao. Their second unit will very likely run with Durant and Livingston.
Let's slow down with thinking they're somehow fucked by adding a Top 3 player in the league - because if the Cavs had added Durant, nobody would be saying these things.
