Kevin Durant Leaves OKC- Joining Warriors

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
John Stockton never won a title because he constantly ran up against better teams. That's your argument?

Your opinion is bad, and you should feel bad.

Pretty much how it went for Barkley too.

Price/Daugherty/Nance Cavs teams always ran into some Jordan guy...most of these guys being mentioned ran into some Jordan guy...
It's crazy to think that if Jordan never happened you could argue that there would be atleast 5 different NBA champions in history. That's including great teams he knocked out of the east.

Still convinced if the 88-89 Cavs don't get "The Shot" hit on them, they win it all that year, just basing off of what my dad told me about that team and how they had the Bad Boy Pistons number for some reason...

Shame that team gets so forgotten...it was so damn good...4 players putting up 17+ a night, Hot Rod and Ehlo coming off the bench, Lenny Wilkens as head coach...serious shame that that team is forgotten, nationally, for how good it was...

Until last year, that was the most talented Cavs team of All-Time IMO...and they lost in the 1st round...

you actually expected someone to beat the bulls? thats funny.

Yeah our Cavs and it is so funny all this Curry love and Mark Price was basically Curry when players were actually good and cared about the game. That is why those Caves could have but Jordan was to much. Think of it this was as our older team was kind of like this current Warriors team and if Jordan was never a thing we would have won many titles. That is why this Curry and Jordan thing is BS only KAJ should be mentioned in his league... maybe Bill Walton.

Edit... Oh yeah this is the Durant thread? Yeah he is Okay.

"The Shot" wouldn't have even been a thing if Price didn't sit one of those games with a groin injury.

Trading Harper was probably the worst move in franchise history. Jordan himself was relieved when that happened, and according to Harper they'd later have conversations when they were teammates about the Cavs' potential had they retained him.

The Cavs were 3-1 against the Pistons that year in the regular season. Had they advanced, I wonder if they could have overcome the Bad Boys' thuggery.

But yeah, not to derail this thread further...

This could be a great plot for Space Jam 2.

Too much conjecture and not enough facts. Here is why he is staying (next year anyhow):

This year he is a 9 year vet with a ~90M cap. That means he can make up to 30% of the cap (90m) which means a 5 year deal would be:

27M
29.025
31.2
33.54
36.06
______
156.8M

If he signs it NEXT season he can make 35% (as a 10 year vet) of 109M cap:

38.15
41.01
44.09
47.39
50.95
_____

221.6M

That's a 65M difference between signing this year and next. And he makes the same next year no matter what.

If he signs a 1+1 elsewhere the other team would not obtain bird rights (would need to sign at least a 2+1 for the new team to get BR). Which means they would need to stay under the cap to re-sign him, can't offer him a 5th year and can't give 7.5% raises. Which pretty much rules out doing the short term deal elsewhere.

But that's only the beginning. OKC has a BIG problem after next year. The problem is that the cap, its rising. And EVERYONE of value to that team is a FA next offseason (assuming KD signs the 1+1). KD and Westbrook are going to get their 222M offers. But how much is Adams going to get offered? He may very well get near max offers too. And Ibaka gets DPoY votes for his interior D and shot 48% from 3 this postseason. He is a great piece to add to a team and he is going to get massive offers too. And OKC is legendarily cheap. They refused to give Harden 5/70. Do we honestly believe they are going to pony up >700M to keep this team intact? Clearly not, which is why I fully expect that team to compete for the title next year, then lose KD, Westbrook, and probably Ibaka (they have the right to match RFA Adams) the following offseason. THATS when the magic is going to happen.

KD should come east and give this side of the NBA a shot in the arm.

If he signs a 1+1 elsewhere the other team would not obtain bird rights
Slight technicality.

They could still go over the cap to sign him to a 20% raise of his 2016-2017 salary, which would still be solidly below a full max.

He's coming here. I had a vision. Same vision I had a year prior to getting Love.

It'll happen.

So I think it needs to be discussed

I think it's a sure thing Durant goes to GS if he does leave OKC.

We need to strike preemptivly and sign either a guy who can guard Green or KD. And we probably need to trade Love to do it.

Don't do the trade until KD signs but definitely be scouting guys
