Last 10 Games Durant vs. Anthony:

Durant has scored: 41/27/22/33/19/32/31/31/33/37

So I'm not sure the Anthony defense is really working.

Those numbers really aren't all that bad for defending KD. He lights everyone up. Probably par for the course against most players. And I doubt melo was guarding him all game.

Many seem to think a one to one swap of Love for Melo is the only option. There are other interesting players on NYK roster that might make a deal possible, should King James demand it.

I agree. They have a white, poor-man's version of J.R. on their roster.

They really don't, which is a problem in this deal. They have KP, but there is no way the Knicks are dealing KP for Love (they wouldn't even do that straight up, nor should they).

Then after that they really have nothing, there is no match talent wise that would make this make sense for both teams.

Honestly, if it were a pure basketball move (and not a PR move), the Knicks would probably take Shumpert + Frye + Jefferson in a heartbeat. Gets them one young role player, and a bunch of salary that is easy to clear. Saves them a ton of money and lets them rebuild.

Problem is that this team is driven by ratings and fan support, and (because Melo is still falsely called a "superstar") the media would kill them for such a trade. But it would be a good basketball move for them.

I'm actually not even sure if that would be a good basketball move for us -- Melo is such a poor percentage shooter.

I was so against the idea of a Melo Love swap but the more I think about it doesn't sound so bad. There's only one reason for this - Love absolutely blows against the Warriors. The Cavs don't stand a shot against the Dubs with KD if Love plays like he did last year. If he doesn't bring it, it's over before it even begins.

If we could get Melo along with a solid big and/or pg it wouldn't be the worst idea ever. But honestly, if the Warriors didn't exist I would never even consider making that trade so its tough.

If we really looked to trade love im sure we could get a better player than melo who could also play against the Warriors.

Who though? I can't see the Bulls trading Butler for Love. I have to think they'd prefer picks or young players. Maybe a 3-way sending Love to Boston, Bulter to Cleveland, and Picks & players from Boston to Chicago?

I suppose the same could be done with Indy and Paul George.

Though I like the idea of getting George or Butler, I'm not sure how I like putting Love on the Celtics. They could complete that trade without having to trade Thomas, Bradley, Crowder, or Horford. That would be a tough team to deal with.

Vs. All teams but 1, Love helps us more than Melo would. Unfortunately that 1 team is the Warriors and they're really the only team that matters because they're likely going to be in the Finals every year for the remainder of our title window. Love just can't match up against them. Not that Melo is a great defender, but hed do a better job on Klay, KD, Iguodala, or Green than Love would.

If you want to make a trade that makes us worse overall, but possibly better against just the Warriors, then go back to the old tried and true Boston trade idea. Crowder and Bradley would help more than Carmelo.

So the LeBron comments now become more clear.

He was angling for Melo and the organization said no.

That's not clear at all. What is clear is that the Knicks tried to take advantage of whatever uncertainty LeBron's comments created to snag Love for Melo. And unfortunately for us, that failed.

It's pretty freakin' clear considering Melo has a no trade clause so he probably spoke with LeBron and the Knicks and figured they could get something done. I'm sure Cleveland would have been on his short list of required destinations.

LeBron was unusually down and out with his comments as well as more abrasive. It may not be clear to you but I've followed him and almost every interview he's ever done after games ect ect.

He's pissed at the front office on multiple fronts but these comments were in relation to Cleveland not trading for his buddy.
