To be fair in the last 3 months he has broken his left hand and then had his thumb ligaments damaged. Can not be helping with his grip, very turnover prone this series, and the Pacers clearly see his post ups as a chance to strip him.

Exactly - try gripping a basketball firmly without using one of your thumbs. Yes, you can play and "gut it out", but there are certain involuntary things you can't control, and if you try to exert force with that thumb, your hand/thumb will recoil.

What the Cavs should have done is traded Love when he had the highest value and use their draft pick+another asset perhaps to trade for Mirotic to take his place.

Game has evolved...Love is no longer this unique offensive unicorn that he was back in 2013-2014/2014-2015. Almost every PF can shoot threes now, and because we mostly use him as a Spot-Up shooter, we don't even maximize him as a shooter and therefore his value for this team is way lower than it would be on any other team.(Off-Screens(Big to Big screens/guard to Big screens)/Hand-Offs)

You couple that with his defense and he is just not worth it for this team. I hope he has enough value after the playoffs, because he has to go...we are probably a year or two too late.

Even so, I'm not even that mad at him compared to how mad I am at Lue. I'm just being a realist as far as Love, but what Lue did last night is absolutely criminal...far worse than what Kevin did.I'll leave my comments for Lue in his own thread.

Kevin Love is in a different league to nikola mirotic , kevin love is just having a bad series against a team he matches up bad with.

You cant compare mirotic to klove.

I agree with you about Ty Lue , needs replacing at the end of season for a better coach , but lebron will probably be gone by then which will suck

His thumb has nothing to do with him whining to the refs constantly, and not get getting back on defense because of it. Lue should have pulled him after the Thad Young strip. In fairness, LeBron also did not get back on D in game 3 after Clarkson turned it over and just stood there in "disbelief."

Can anyone lip read what Love said when LeBron told him to get back?

I can easily compare them as players on a team with Lebron. Mirotic is by far the better defender, and probably on most teams Love would be used differently as he is probably a more diverse player, but on this team I'd much rather take Mirotic and trade Love to the highest bidder to shore our other weaknesses. Easiest decision ever.

I just have a feeling that Mirotic would show up, play good for a game and then Lue would get his hands on him lol.

Kevin Love averages more points , more rebounds , more assists , better 3 point percentage , better field goal percentage , better free throw percentage than Nikola Mirotic over their career.

Also K Love is a 5-Time All Star (before he was at the Cavs and while he's been at the Cavs).

Mirotic has been to the all star game Zero times.

In playoffs also Kevin Love averages more points , rebounds etc etc

Love is having a bad series v Indiana , and Mirotic had a good one against Blazers but that doesn't mean you take Mirotic over Kevin Love.

Anybody watch Kevin's postgame interview? He was acting like kind of a prick, gave generic answers, and was literally eating while people were asking him questions. I've never seen that kind of unprofessionalism out of Love before.

There's only one reason why Love would be eating at that particular moment, it would be if he was managing a blood sugar issue. Why couldn't the interviewers wait a few minutes until he got a few bites? Apparently neither Love or the questioners thought it was a big deal, and I don't see why you should make a big deal out of it either.

You know that we'll hear his hand injury is worse than led to believe once our playoff run is over. I'm the biggest Love supporter on this board - but man oh man can he PLEASE hold on to the ball ONCE while he's trying to post up?

Don’t mind the Love hater, he’s only in to white dudes from foreign country’s , it’s a female thing with the accent and all.

The hand injuries are clearly affecting his ability to maintain his grip on the ball and the Pacers are keying on banging and ripping Love's hand. I would wager after getting his already painful left hand abused it just gets weaker and more painful, and I have no doubt it doesn't help with his three point shooting stroke.

But, just ignore all that and continue to bash the guy for gutting it out to play through the injuries.

Love losing the ball in the post is nothing new. But I guess he’s always had a hurt hand eh. Keep making excuses.

Okay that might be a stretch but you act like Love isn't streaky. He's averaging 12 pts on 36% shooting in the playoffs with piss poor def. That is so ridiculous for an all star. Mirotich is at least showing up in these games. 18 pts 10 rebs on 57% shooting and 46% from 3. If Love had those numbers we'd be coming home up 3-1 about to close out the series on Wednesday eve. Love is nothing more than a stretch 4 at this point although our pathetic excuse of a coach thinks he's a 5.

Since the playoff run last year through this last season Love has 60% TS over those 77 games which if iirc is top 30 in the league. I think Love will be fine though I don't think playing him out of position helps.

I think Mirotic %'s are at those numbers because opposing teams either have to double AD and leave Mirotic or guard AD 1v1. The Cavs have been playing Green next to Love a majority of the time so Love is the big that gets doubled in the Cavs offense, the only time he's really open is when he catches a kick out from LBJ or someone sets a screen for him to use.

I think the biggest flaw this season is that Lue seems to not have developed any offensive sets designed to get ball movement and player rotations going but more to set up ISO opportunities (which made more sense when he had LBJ and KI)

Ball movement has been terrible. Kevin love is a great scorer, but not on iso in the post.

Dunno what they are thinking, he needs to hit some 3s. It is probably the biggest reason the offense has stalled. If he hits some 3s like he was doing all season, the pacers get destroyed.

Hr hasnt been spacing the floor

Love did have a quiet series against the Pacers last year, it could be they are just a bad match up for him. His only had game 2 with a real impact and that was in large part down to getting to the line for 12 Fts. Only had 8 in this series so far, he has been very bad but the Pacers are getting away with murder on the inside.
