I'm saying Love's value is going to not be very good, at all. So you'd be willing to just give him away?

I don't think we're going to get much of anything for him at this moment. If you can get a lottery pick, shitty draft or not, you take it and run. I don't think any team at this moment would offer one for him.

If you have Love in a bigger role, and the offense centered around him. His production should sky rocket.

Honestly, what do you guys realistically think we're getting for him? The offers for him last year were pretty bad. They're going to be even worse now.

With his injury history, don't think we can wait. He had a good last series and not sure his value playing on a shit team is going to be higher than it is now.

Bro, we got swept. :chuckle: You think teams around the league are glamoring over Love's performance in the finals, where we lost in 4 straight games with LeBron on the roster.

Largely because we don't have a good enough supporting cast around LeBron? Bro, this finals is not a selling point at all for Love to other teams. If anything, it backfires even more.

You really think teams are going rush to the phone to start offering really good assets for him?

The case for Love would have been if we knocked the Warriors off a few games, largely because of his performances.

We looked like a team that badly lacked another star. That's not a good selling point for Love.

Well if he gets hurt - you get shit for him. There are so many teams out there that would love to be in the finals like we have been for the past 4 years. I accept the fact that we disagree on this, but Love does have some value. Next year he may not if he gets hurt (as he does every year).
Really gets tiresome how a number of people think Love is shit. Just keep believing nobody wants him if that's what makes you happy.

I actually do think we could get back an early to mid-round first for Kevin Love. I'm not sure how that would help our chances with keeping LeBron, but I would he tempted to do it from a pure value-standpoint. I see quite a few teams in the top-20 picks that could really benefit from trading for Love, and who I bet would if the Cavs offer him up.

It seems more likely though that Kevin gets dealt with our pick to try and get the best overall player in the deal.

Something like everyone's suggested already; Beal, Lillard, Walker, etc...

Problem is, that doesn't really make us much better.

But what about something few are suggesting? That actually makes a little sense..

What if the Cavs trade Kevin Love and their first for Marc Gasol and Mike Conley?

I think the Cavs get a clear talent upgrade, and the Grizzlies could start constructing their rebuild with another high draft pick. Plus they get Kevin Love who gets to blow up his stats and mentor their youth movement.

Conley comes home, Gasol gets to compete for championships finally, and the Cavs largely improve their defense. And you certainly would be able to create a pretty interesting pitch to LeBron. I don't think it's that great of a pitch, but maybe.

Interesting to ponder a line-up of
Conley
Korver/ Cedi
LeBron
Larry Nance Jr
Marc Gasol

You would have excellent shooting still, and superior defense. I would try hard to bring back Rj and Channing.

I know injuries are a huge concern, and what make this kind of trade pretty risky. Just a thought.

I've always been a huge Kevin Love supporter. I respect most things about the guy in spite of being frustrated at times with some aspects of his game. The guy is consistently an elite rebounder, above average perimeter shooter, better than what he is given credit for on defense. His best quality is his integrity as a person and that is undeniable even by people who hate the guy. My problems with Love are his inconsistency and softness around the basket offensively, but these things can be negated if he has the right types of player on the court with him. We never had the right kinds of players around Love.

Having said all that I think he is gone no matter what happens. He does have more trade value than any other piece on our squad. I think he is gone regardless of Lebron's decision because if Lebron stays Love can be an outgoing asset to bring in the best returns, and if Lebron leaves why would we keep Love around when his value can be used to start the rebuild?

It was a pleasure to have Kevin on the team and to watch him through all the ups and downs. I'll always be a Kevin Love fan wherever he ends up.

I suggested this trade for the #8 pick earlier in the season, or at least for Gasol. I kind of wonder if the #8 pick would be enough to get both of them, although the salaries would obviously be difficult to match. The Grizzlies should be kind of desperate to get off of Conley's contract given his recent injury history and his gargantuan deal. And Gasol fell off significantly from last year.

The Cavs should be burning up the phones right now. If they want to keep Lebron they need to present him with a feasible plan to improve.

Hypothetically speaking, the Cavs trade the #8 pick and LeBron leaves anyways. Then what? You're without your best player and you just traded a lottery pick, in a strong draft, for likely a middling veteran, who will only help you pick low in the lottery and just miss out on the playoffs. Does that sound appealing? If so, perhaps the Cavs can bring back Mike Fratello to coach the team too.

If Lebron leaves I’d be willing to trade Love/#8 to SAC for #2, since they want to move down. Or I’d trade him to Memphis at 4 and take back parsons or Dallas at 5 if they want to make the playoffs trading for Love and signing Cousins gets them in the playoffs.

They will, probably, still draft someone at 8, if 2014 is anything to go by.

BUT. There were rumblings around that time of the Love to Cle trade at that point. If there are rumors being leaked about....I don't know, George, Walker, Lillard being interested around that day? Then it has legs and LeBron has likely told the Cavs he's willing to stay.

If there is just...silence? Then no. He's already gone.

Doesn't matter if LeBron stays or goes, its time to thank Love for his services to the organization and move him.

We need wings and playmakers. Love along with the 8th pick are our best assets to acquire those.

In fact, I doubt Kings or Memphis do that, but I trade Love + 8th pick for Kings' 2nd pick and Memphis 4th pick if Luka Doncic is available. Having someone like Doncic would be a great start to the re-building process.
