Kevin Love Trade Ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It's hard to think of a fair trade for someone like Kevin Love especially considering how unselfish he is.

Demarcus Cousins would be my first target. A complete opposite of Love but for sure the same calabier player.

I'd love to have Hassan Whiteside but not sure he helps us enough if it means giving up Love.

How much would Boston be willing to give up? I'd have to at least think about a trade for Love if it looked like this:

Horford and TT would be a great combo together. They could easily play together. That would be a solid defense.

I like Bradley but ew no to smart. He plays like an idiot and can't shoot.

Horford is already Boston's whipping boy. I would love to see Cousins for a trial.. 10-day contracts to see if your trade targets fit!
Cousins is too much of a risk otherwise and I just don't like him, regardless of his talent.

PG-13 for Love, such a pipe dream... I would love to know if Griffin actually thinks about these type of blockbuster trades or is he basically married and committed to Love like some of the fan base?

With Love back problems I would be on the phone like a mad man right now trying to get something like this done, Imagine PG13 + LeBron + Kyrie. God Damn.

Would anyone consider something of this nature?

Cavs Get:
Batum
Williams
Sessions
2017 1st

Hornets get:
Love
Shumpert
Felder

Part of me loves this trade, part of me has no idea what to think about it.

I think Batum is a perfect fit on the perimeter between Kyrie and James. He can shoot, create for others, rebound, and defend. He can play and guard both the 2&3 and has the length to match-up with Durant.

Williams is the perfect type of player to match-up with GSW. Can play both forward spots, though most effective as a stretch four. Still, that'd give us James, Batum, Williams, and Jefferson as guys we can throw at Durant.

Sessions would be a nice playmaker to have off the bench. He's a vet with some playoff experience.

1st rounder - To either be used with the TPE for a center or saved for draft time.

A trade like this makes the Cavs way more versatile. I'd assume with everyone healthy you start Kyrie, Batum, James, Williams, and Thompson. Then your bench is Sessions, Smith, Korver, Jefferson, Frye, and hopefully a big with the TPE and pick. Williams or Thompson would be first guy out, LeBron to PF, Batum to SF, Smith/Korver at SG, Kyrie at PG.

Not sure if this is too much or not enough. Hornets do this trade because they get a bonafide second option and defensive minded SG. Walker, Shump/Lamb, MKG, Love, and Zeller is a pretty good 1-5. That team could make a lot of noise in the East and would be a tough match-up.

Thoughts?

Well rumor is Melo wasn't enough...

If we're trading Love, we either need multiple players in return that are very, very good, or one stud like Paul George or Butler. Depth is a big time issue right now, though, and I think it's going to be in the playoffs unless something gets done before the deadline.

Nah.

A for Charlotte
C- for Cavs

Funny how often Boston fans drop by RCF, sign up, then try to talk Cavaliers fans into taking their fourth, fifth, and sixth best assets for a major cog of our championship team. It's an odd way to make aquaintences.

Would really hate the thought of trading Love basically because of food poisoning. It was only a month ago folks were saying Love completely counteracts the Warriors getting Durant and now since the FP we need to unload him before he's gotten a real chance to get back. (Yes he needs to be sitting out until rested & fully fit)

It's no secret the Cavs are thin in the up front, but these trade proposals are talking of getting rid of our best big for another wing. Then what? haven't seen anyone address how we'd fill in the front court after PG13/Butler arrives? Who would get all the rebounds Love normally gobbles up on the defensive end?

Well rumor is Melo wasn't enough...

It makes sense, given the salary implications. Bringing on more money will really hamstring us, in terms of roster flexibility, so if that move is made, it has to include upgraded depth.

The main problem I see though is the only real attractive player (IMO), that could be attached in a trade, just makes too much money (Courtney Lee at $12 mil per). I don't really like Jennings, especially on a 1 year deal and I'm more luke warm on players like O'Quinn.

Just looking at the Knicks roster, There would have to be a 3rd team involved that the Knicks move a #1 pick to in exchange for a cheap role player coming to us. It's a scary trade for the Cavs because there is a lot of unknowns defensively with Carmelo but if we're going with a narrow minded, 2 year window approach I can see how Melo + an obvious depth upgrade could potentially be attractive.

Again, it would really have to be a quality role player IMO....someone who would / could be a true difference maker. Like I'm thinking someone like Will Barton, who is likely the odd man out in Denver given all the pending contracts there.

NYK - Love, JMac
CLE - Melo, Barton
DEN - Knicks #1, Cavs #2, Birdman

To me, that's the only way I even consider it. If I'm getting a really good young role player, on a nice contract as well as a player that is of All-Star caliber. I think trades for guys like PG and Butler are just too unrealistic. If you're going to move Love, something like Melo and Barton is probably as good as you could do.

And with that said, I'm not even sure what the Knicks willingness to trade a #1 is. Without that, as a way to facilitate an additional player to Cleveland (while hanging on to Cedi), I doubt this is even a conversation but I could be wrong.
