Kevin Love Trade Ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
His numbers are good I will give him that but man he looks very bad when you actually watch games.

We have a big three and we are still asking for a playmaker. That tells you something about the guy. He should at least be serviceable in creating his own shots. But damn, every time he posts up it is probably a short hook shot, a steal, or blocked.

Defense is given. So I know there's nothing to bitch about that. He is what he is on that side of the ball.

The more I think about it, the more I can't help but feel that the front office should consider trading Kevin Love. I don't think this is actually going to happen though, but it should be strongly considered.

Let me start by saying this is very unfair to Kevin and isn't without its risks. Kevin Love has been unselfish and a true professional since he joined your team - he hasn't complained about limited touches or a host of other drama that surrounded you guys. His rebounding is fantastic and he's the best outlet passer in the NBA. And he's having his best season on the Cavs. Plus he has established chemistry with LeBron and Kyrie (who he is finally playing better with). So I understand the sentiment not to want to move him. He really doesn't deserve to be moved based on his play since he's been a Cav.

The problem is your team has roster holes and limited assets. And Kevin Love hasn't shown that he could be useful against the one team you actually need to beat to win a championship in the next several years. And his injury problems are concerning. Whether it's getting multiple two way players or one two way star, the Cavs could improve by moving Love. That doesn't mean panic trading for a Melo type, but getting a king's ransom from a star-hungry team like Boston for instance. Or grabbing an unhappy superstar like Butler or George if they can be had (though I doubt Love and Cedi and filler is enough to get either player).

It's tough but it may have to happen (if not this year then maybe next year) if you guys realistically want to compete with the Warriors.

I know I sort of mentioned it in the LeBron thread, but outside of a miracle I'm starting to think this is the only way to change the makeup of this team to compete with the Warriors the next 2-3 years. A bought out PG or C helps in the short term with roster depth, but it doesnt move the needle come June. I don't WANT to see Love moved, like at all, but if they can get a return back that puts us on par with GS it may have to be done.

God Damn that fucking asshole Kevin Durant.

We just gotta really push his stats to other teams and hope they don't watch the film.

Hmmm.....

How about Love to the Magic for

Fournier
Veucevic
Gordon

The Magic need something to sell tickets. Love gives them that. They aren't a good team anyways. At least with Love they get a name brand that can score 25 a night while they tank their way to a top draft pick.

The Cavs get IMMEDIATE YOUTH AND DEPTH

Trading Love is really the only theoretical way to make the team better but how often has that actually materialized in to something overwhelmingly positive?

In a perfect world, would Minnesota trade Love for Wiggins if given a do-over? If they thought there was even a remote chance he would stay? I doubt it.....and Wiggins was a #1 overall pick. 2 years later, he's nothing more than a low efficiency wing who doesn't play great defense. Is that truly worth someone as good as Love? And that was considered best case scenario for a trade haul.

It's just so hard to trade one of the top 20-30 guys in the league and have it work out. I mean, I'm blanking on anyone who traded an All-Star player and then ended up with a better or even equal player once the dust settled. When you look back at the trades that landed Shaq, T-Mac, Chris Paul, Melo, etc., etc......who even came out of those trades on the other side with even a net wash? The team that got the star always won.

One that comes to mind is when Memphis got "fleeced" in the Pau deal, but it netted them Marc. Obviously that's not really close to what you're talking about, and the Lakers probably still won that since they got three finals and two titles out of it.

Probably Ibaka and Fournier for Love.

They rate Gordon very highly. Doubt they will trade him away so soon.

If we do trade Love, it has to be for someone who is at least very good and not some good role players etc. The likes of Butler and Paul George would be great but they are also pipe dreams imo.

But, I was wondering if we can entice Utah with a Love + Shump + Pick for Hayward + Favours. Thats a kind of deal which can work well for both teams if Utah feel there's a chance Hayward doesn't sign there.

Gobert is the perfect kind of Center to complement Love and they have good perimeter defenders who can hide Love's defensive issues. Shump gives them some depth in the guards spot. Favors would be redundant with Love there and he also hasn't been featuring a lot this season. That way we get a good defensive big along with a very good wing.

You're out of your mind. Hayward has more trade value than Love at this point and is arguably a better player to boot. And that's not even including Favors who's one of the best young PF's in the NBA.

Favors is on a huge decline and is more injury prone than Kevin Love. Kevin Love is on a long term contract while both Favours and Hayward are RFA this summer. Utah isn't going to retain both of them and that's guaranteed.

So what if Love is 28 years old? I'm 26 years old and I have a worse back than a 50 year old. Age isn't an absolute measure to good health and Love has chronic back problems and from my experience it gets worse. Especially if you are a white athlete with sub optimal posture and have to play 82 games a season.

We should have Love call your trainer.

Just keep love under wraps until after all star break.. We need him to regain his december form...
