Kevin Love Trade Ideas

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Why would Boston ever do this? You make the Cavs unstoppable and give up a ton of picks to get Love? Boston could easily complete a trade for PG13, potentially without having to even give up Crowder, Brown, Thomas, or Bradley. If anyone's getting Butler or PG13, it's likely Boston.
Love is, quite easily, worth all of those picks and probably then some. Let's not over value draft picks while undervaluing Love.

Now if they prefer PG-13 then yeah they wouldn't do it, but let's not act like Boston wouldn't do those picks for Love straight up. That's exactly what I was talking about upthread where I said people are basically valuing Love at a ham sandwich level

Boston need a 4, they don't need another shooting guard and a SF. They currently have Amir Johnson as a starter while Horford plays the 4.

If you can get PG you do it. It shouldn't matter who else you have. He's a top 10 2 way player.

Make a separate deal for a 4 if you have to.

What do you guys think of this melo trade?

4 way trade cavs magic Knicks Celtics

Cavs in

Melo
Ibaka
Crowder
Jennings

Knicks in

Jeff green
Frye
Birdman
McRae
2017 Boston first
2019 Boston first

Celtics in
Kevin love

Magic in

Amir Johnson
Shump
Tyler zeller

For the cavs it would give us more offensive versatility with melo with a nice backup pg and a great defensive combo of ibaka and crowder. Ibaka and TT compliment each other perfectly. Both can switch and ibaka can protect the paint. And on offense ibaka can stretch the floor and let TT continue to be inside. Crowder is on a great deal and is very similar to shump so it wouldn't hurt us if we moved him. But Orlando would need something to do this deal. They want to move ibaka before he becomes a FA and shump would give them a nice return.

Boston would finally get Love and without giving up the Brooklyn pick.

The Knicks would be getting a bunch of expirings and picks to rebuild. Frye would be a good vet for porzingis. Might even be a good fit next to him.

There'd have to be a few tweaks im sure. Maybe Boston would have to give up the Brooklyn pick. But with loves bad back maybe they won't. But that wouldn't matter on our end.

TT
Ibaka
Lebron
Melo
Kyrie

Jennings
Crowder
JR off bench.

Lots of versatility for us. We might not be able to match GS talent but we can win the matchups.

I like the way your thinking. I was thinking of just this trade with a few changes:

Celtics aren't gonna trade for Love. They know a front court rotation of Love, Horford and Olynyk will not be good enough to beat us or any other contender.

I really don't know who would trade for Love. He is still clearly a very good player when healthy. He has elite rebouding and shooting, which are becoming more and more important these days. But he'll always be a liability on defense and the match up issues will be exploited. You need to have a very good rim protecting center to cover for Love's weaknesses.

To be honest, every since we got Love I thought he wasn't the best fit. I thought LBJ was bound to take the power forward duties as he aged and small ball became more prominent. I'm on the trade Love train, but only for the perfect fit. I'm not trading for Carmelo, that's for sure. We need a defensive wing, preferably with a good outside stroke. We need someone to guard the Durants and Leonard's of this world. LBJ can't do it all forever. He might be able to, for short streches in the playoff, but we need to make the regular season easier on him.

I don't see any player we could realistically get that would without a doubt make us a better team. I'd love to get Jimmy Butler or Paul George, but that's not happening. Honestly, they're aren't many trade partners that I see...

I wish there was a "sad but true" response you could give to a post.

Not a "great" player, but supposedly Orlando would be open to trade talks regarding Serge Ibaka. That's a rim protector right there. He's defensive minded and not a bad shooter overall. He would be a great add-on to a big-man rotation with Love and Thompson. Just don't see how they could get it done.

Yes, the Jae Crowder trade again :/ Throw in Brooklyn's pick and then in the offseason look to package the pick for Paul George or Jiminy Crickets Butler and move Crowder to the bench if we can do it without including him in the package. Re-sign Serge in the off season. Orlando probably has to be tossed a pick or something. Too bad we gave up a pick for Korver.

I'm so mad to be right again about trades and stuff.. sigh. Story of my life.
I'm like a messiah
