Did Koby Altman nail the rebuild?

Honestly the video is fairly damning that I could see, in some off chance, him getting fired.

I'm, at this point, expecting some sort of suspension type of disciplinary action though.

How is the video any more damning than any other DUI arrest video? It’s exactly what I would expect a DUI arrest of a middle class guy to look like. Try to talk yourself out of it a little but don’t cuss out the cop or resist. Doesn’t really add anything to the arrest except that he’s probably guilty.

I don’t see Koby losing his job. The Browns assistant, Callie Brownson, had a DUI a couple years ago and I think she had a .215 BAC.

She kept her job, did counseling and was extremely apologetic.

Obviously Koby is in a position with a lot more responsibility within the team but there’s a path forward here.

I don't think he should lose his job for this. Driving drunk is fucking stupid, especially when you have all the resources available to Altman.. but that is exactly what alcohol does, impair your judgement.

Not excusing idiotic behavior, just saying I understand how it happens. Hopefully he learns from this.

I’m an outside sales rep if I get a DUI I lose my job lol not saying koby should but he needs to be sanctioned real good and hopefully he learns from this

I get the sentiment. Unfortunately, we can't compare normal every day careers to those in professional sports, fair or not.

I talked to my brother about this, who is a lawyer. He wont get a DUI, he said refusing to take a breathalizer is actually a smart defense. He will get charged for refusing, the cops could of gotten a warrant to get a blood test, but they did not. He thinks he is hard suspended 30 days for license, a week in jail, and a year with a limitted license.

This is not to deal with the moral implications, different from the legal ramifications. Hopefully he is fined 100k or so.

Pure speculation on my part here and just pure curiosity. I wonder how the story would change if it came out that Koby was at a team hosted or sanctioned dinner and was either given drinks from one of the owners or encouraged to drink in order to close a current or future deal. He still should have called for a ride, but I think it gets a little greyer if he ends up eluding that his employment increased the pressure to drink,.

Did the employer shove him in a car, lock the doors from the outside, and tell him to leave or he’d lose his job?

Where the alcohol came from is irrelevant. It’s still his decision to drive away no matter when and where he consumed the alcohol.

I agree. It's not like he was some junior office worker who you might think warrants a reminder that he shouldn't drink and drive. That should go without saying and shouldn't require a reminder from the team even if he was attending a team event.

He's the guy who should have been reminding other people not to drink and drive.

Plus, who from the team is reminding Koby of this unless it's a staff member under him? I think Dan and Nic Barlarge are the only two guys who would actually be over Koby in the entire organization. I'm not 100% with Nic, but I'd assume as CEO Koby would have to answer to him.

Just the whole failure to lead by example is pretty damning for his status with the Cavs organization IMO.

Honestly, those that think Koby gets fired over this dont live in the real world, it was a dumb thing to do, but a misdeamor and one mistake wont get the GM of a major porfessiomal sports team fired
