They started off with running off of everything, and it was working. Lebron was running it up the court off of makes even, and they were getting semi-transition easy points while the Clips hadn't yet set up. You could tell they weren't ready for anything like that in the scouting report. The game slowed down a bit later on, and by the 4th, no way the guys felt like charging down the court every time. Overall, I liked it, they actually had some offensive production, and Lebron was able to distribute instead of dominate the possessions in the half court. I would say I like our chances pushing the ball into a soft D than our half-hearted efforts at a half court offense. There was one stretch late in the 4th where they started putting up 3 pointers 5 seconds into the clock, but it was pretty solid besides that. Sasha had another strong game.
The defense was there the whole game, getting some nice work from Z especially. No one was blowing by on penetration either, but thats probably because their main ball handler was 37 year old Sam Cassell. We'll see what happens against Miami.
I like the new tempo if the guys have the energy left to get back on transition D. This was a HUGE weak point before Mike Brown got here, and I don't want the uptempo offense to make guys lazy about getting back on D.
