LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I really have to say.. with the Reports out there that Lebron is not recruiting people to Cle now bugs me..

Its not the first time he does this.. he has done so multiple times in his first stint here too. If he had recruited Ray Allen,Michael Redd,Chris Bosh,Amare with all his power saying"If you come i will stay guaranteed" one of them easilly would have signed..

Now of course we dont have any Cap Space so he cant recruit big Stars but he absolutely could recruit very good Vets and get them to take paycuts to content for the Title with us.

Get Darren Collison or Shelvin Mack to sign for a bit cheaper instead of Calderon. Push hard for Guys like Dudley,Evans,Randolph.. He totally has the Influence to convince at least one of those to take paycuts to play with him...

Its the same as in his first stint.. he would have to openly say "Look i am not leaving soon so come play here" ... but he wont because that puts the FO at ease and he rather holds them at Gunpoint..

As great as he is he has some weird behaviours like this that ultimately do decrease his chance at more Titles..

Thats no excuse for the FO to not get their shit together and its a fact that Lebron basically has had worse luck than any other Top 10 Player.. All of those had competent Management and an actual good Coach for huge chunks of their Careers... Lebron arguably had neither.. like ever... or only in short stretches
(When the Heat made 2 great Signings at the right time with Battier and Allen. and when Griffin Traded for JR,Shump and signed RJ those where short moments in Lebrons career where his FO made Title worthy decisions.. they rest... meh)...

But still.. he could help... alot... Just openly say "I am retiring a Cav in 5-8 years.. i wont ever go anywhere again" and we propably could not save ourself from requests from actually still GOOD veterans who want to play with Lebron for basically free if needed..
And because he wont do that i do hold that against him...

You mean Lebron didn't get on the phone to Jose Calderon? The nerve.

That article was pretty much bullshit click bait.

I get all this, I do.

But LeBron isn't GM and it's an open secret at this point that he surveys the landscape each offseason and then plans his move.

A few years ago in Miami, Pau Gasol wanted assurances he'd be back, and LeBron hit him back with a voicemail saying he should do whatever is in his heart and good luck...Pau signed elsewhere and LeBron ended up in CLE.

It's just not his style to actively recruit when he's capabale of playing anywhere he wants and elevating a team to contender....

So you're correct in that he leaves the best possible team aspirations at the door when he refuses to commit to any franchise long term, but he keeps his integrity within the league because he rarely makes any type of promises.

The guy delivered a title to CLE...I hate that we are now in a position where Gilbert is protecting the future instead of attacking the present, but "it is what it is"....

Should LeBron leave next off-season, he leaves the franchise in decent shape with Kyrie, Love, TT, and Korver on decent deals. IMO, JR and Shumpert are overpaid, but it's not franchise debilitating....the hole he'd leave can be replaced with enough talent to compete in the East "if" Gilbert can find a competent GM.

I'll say this.....if LeBron does bounce after this upcoming season, a lot of people who complained about this off-season will suddenly be really happy Gilbert puckered his asshole this summer....

I still kinda wish they pushed all their chips into the middle of the table and made a run at being the best team in the league....Gilbert just couldn't get there and feels like with a little luck, we can still win a title with the same core from last year while also minimizing future risk....and I get that too.

You are right of course... i know Lebron is just not the Person to simply settle..

Its just sometimes frustrating.. If he would commit long term we could build something like the Spurs did with Duncan at 32.. reduce his RS Workload and continue to win Titles till he was 38 with continuity and smart move made Possible at least in part because their core of TD,Parker,Manu and POP as Coach simply stayed the same no matter what.

Would it be so bad for Lebron to content for titles here until hes 40 health permitted? The East now is truly a wreck with Jimmy and PG gone West and the one young Team that could be dangerous in Philly is at least 4 or 5 years away..

I know he is not wired like that.. i know he wants his Options Open all the Time... and he likes to keep the Pressure on the FO... but still.. as German i am a natural Dirk fan and he just said something outright adorable... he said "I am not really happy we missed the Playoffs last year but i just cant imagine ever wearing another jersey. So if we are going to Rebuild i will be the Face of that too" I know he propably is a totally different Person from Lebron in any possible way.. but sometimes i just wish Lebron would just come out going "Screw it i am not going anywhere ever again... now lets build a Culture and a Team that can Content until i retire and maybe even longer"

One can dream, right?

OH MAN. HAHHA..CLEVELAND IS DONE FOR.

...

I'm going to ask a question here. Ya'll are chill. But why is there so many mouthbreathing idiots that seem to circle around the NBA? This whole player worship culture is bordering on creepy.

Not worried at all. First of all, that's the last place he will go. You sound like the Mainstream media talking about someone else back in November, and ended losing. Fake news, keep dreaming homie

why would we kill ourselves over the cavs?

none of us did it the first time. I doubt people will be as mad the 2nd time. I mean did this same dipshit do it when Bird retired or some shit? (though I doubt he was even alive for when Bird played)

It's business. It sucks, but this is the league LeBron plays in. Can't blame the Cavs for a lot of these problems they didn't create on a broader scope.

The East has just got weaker and will probably stay that way for at least a year or two, I doubt LeBron leaves unless he really doesn't care about winning(which I doubt).

Lebron can coast to the finals coming out of the East for the foreseeable future.

Where are his better options? Bring in his aging super friends and see how long they can ride it out.

If it's not about winning and creating his brand? He's going to go to LA.

e: Think Wayne Gretzky circa 1988 or so.

I actually think James coming to L.A. hurts his "brand." FWIW.... His brand is that of a basketball legend. Coming to the Lakers (I live in L.A. btw), would be awful for his legacy since the fans here are not LeBron fans; if anything, people here hate LeBron and would almost universally say Kobe is better than him.

LeBron knows this....

Lakers and Lakers media are just pushing this narrative to sell tickets.

It makes zero sense he's going to leave Cleveland, for either LA situation when those teams will be much worse, and in a much tougher conference. Even if the Lakers get both PG and LeBron. So what? They're still not even close to GS.

I'm not even sure why people are freaking out, or developing so much energy into where he's going.

Never say never, I get that, but at the moment, there's really no where for LB to go that's a better situation for him.

He knows that. He's not going to leave, just for the sake of leaving, and us not being good enough against Golden State.

Not sure there's a team in the league that's good enough against GS, he can realistically go to.

Speculating lebron going to LA is big business. That's why the media does it every year. He's not leaving. It's just the media hyping looking to clicks.
