LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
He has to find a way to protect the ball. Turnovers were the story of the game. Bron had 6 and Green had 5. And Bron had at least 2-3 momentum murdering turnovers in the 2nd quarter where we were threatening to go up really big....

He also feel in love with the jumper after a hot start and he was totally rattled by that hit/neck strain. Wasn't the same guy immediately and the rest of the night.

Was really bad defensively. Boston is making him work and he's not really doing much. It comes and goes in spurts.

Shame we wasted such a great offensive game.

LeBron is gone.

Hate to say this, but lets be honest, the only hope we had of him staying was if that Nets pick was in the Top-3.

Now that it isn't, there's really not a lot of scope for improvement in this team. Especially when you compare how stacked the Warriors are and how much more Celtics could improve with Kyrie and Hayward back next season.

They were though. Neither player had any offers, esp JR.
We paid more than we should have, but we have the benefit of hindsight now. At the time TT signed his contract there was hope that he was going to become our "Draymond Green". He was coming off a very good playoffs and was only 24 years old. But, he's fallen apart since then so the contract is now terrible.

After this embarrassment it wouldn’t surprise me if we don’t even attempt to retain Lebron

Jordan Clarkson was a DNP-CD, Cedi Osman played two minutes, Rodney Hood was a -7 in 11 minutes and Dwyane Wade was at home tweeting about the game on his couch because the Cavs wanted to clear up playing time for those three guys.

Dave mcm just Ethered the Cavs front office

LeBron at this stage of his career can't be the defensive linchpin of a team that wants to compete for the NBA Championship, especially when he has so much work-load on the offensive end. His defense safety is great but you still need a good rim-protector alongside him there. With Love there, its essentially a lay-up line for the opposition.

You are right about Bron's defense not being good but you have to consider all the factors as well. Put someone like an Embiid or Gobert to marshal our defense and we are a complete different beast defensively altogether.

How many times are people going to bring up the JR and TT contracts?

Like, do people not realize that even if JR and TT were not even on the team, and we just signed minimum guys to their spots, that we'd still be over the cap by $8M?

Literally the only downsides to the TT and JR contracts that they don't deserve are:

a) Dan Gilbert has less money (WGAF)
b) maybe they'd be more tradeable if their contracts were better
c) maybe we'd be more willing to take on contracts in trades if we didn't have their contracts

and b) and c) are both "perhaps we could make better trades"

In 2010, I was cursing at LeBron for leaving. This summer I'll be cursing at him if he were to stay. He came home and delivered. They won't compete for the next few years even with him. Time to tear it down and start over. Three years of tanking, dumping bad contracts and building talent and LeBron might come walking back through the door in 2021.

Strictly hypothetical.
Say he stays. Say he decides he wants to finish out his career here, and just says to the Cavs organization "Ball is in your court"
What can the Cavs do to make things better, easier on him? How do we build a team that can beat that hoosier twerp in Boston? How do we build a team to get him a 2nd ring?
I'm blanking. Help.

First Fire Lue.

Then we need to trade the Nets Pick + JR + Clarkson and get someone like Lillard with it.

Then LeBron has to persuade PG to opt in his contract and do what CP3 did with the Clippers. Tell them he will opt in his contract and ask them to trade to us. We trade Love to OKC for PG. OKC don't lose PG for nothing and get back a solid player who is friends with Russ and can stretch the floor for OKC. Would complement well with Adams as well.

Then use the MLE to sign a solid wing player. I don't know who we can get with that MLE but I will try for someone like Tyreke Evans. No chance he signs for MLE though. A more realistic option would be someone like Ilyasova. Can play as a stretch 4/5 which would be very handy with Love gone. Then hopefully get a couple of solid players for vet minimum.

We will more or less end up with a roster like this:-

Starting 5:- Lillard - Hill - PG - LeBron - Nance Jr.

Bench:- Calderon/New Back-Up PG, Cedi, Hood, Korver, Jeff Green, Ilyasova, Zizic.
