LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Strictly hypothetical.
Say he stays. Say he decides he wants to finish out his career here, and just says to the Cavs organization "Ball is in your court"
What can the Cavs do to make things better, easier on him? How do we build a team that can beat that hoosier twerp in Boston? How do we build a team to get him a 2nd ring?
I'm blanking. Help.

Truly you essentially do nothing next season. Draft your guy.

Then when Love comes off the books in '19 and JR and Hill can br cut for a small amount, you begin remaking the team in free agency. TT will be an expiring then too.

Problem we have is we are simply too old and not athletic enough. We tried to get younger, but Hood and Clarkson just suck.

Anyway, thatd what I do. Try and sell him on 2019 and 2020. We chase Kawhi with cap space in 19 and then in 20 when Clarkson and TT come off we chase AD. The gap between us and GS is too big to do it in one off-season. And we dont have 1009 picks coming to us to help us do it like Boston thanks to the Nets.

Truthfully though, Paul wants to win a title. If the Rockets get bounced by GS I absolutely expect him to be in Brons ear this summer and be willing to sacrifice more money to get him there.

Like, that's where I see this headed now.

Lol why go to Houston when you have Philly there
Yeah, if LeBron is going to leave it makes sense to go to a younger team like Philly that can start competing for championships right away with LeBron on the roster.

I know LeBron always had a dream to play with the entire banana boat crew at some point in his career, but I think he saw from the failed Wade experiment this year that that doesn’t always work out.

LeBron is so good on his own he doesn’t need to go join a “veteran” team like Houston to win. Also, he is NOT taking a paycut for CBA reasons, he has made that very clear, so I don’t know why we’re discussing Houston in the first place.

LeBron is gone.

Hate to say this, but lets be honest, the only hope we had of him staying was if that Nets pick was in the Top-3.

Now that it isn't, there's really not a lot of scope for improvement in this team. Especially when you compare how stacked the Warriors are and how much more Celtics could improve with Kyrie and Hayward back next season.
Right now I don't feel he's gone.
I think he has a good assessment of the team..but I think he'll wait and hear what the Cavs plan is moving forward.
If he goes, he goes but I won't speculate(yes I will) where he would want to go if he does bolt.
The popular names are Philly/LA/Houston but I can think of two teams no one has ever mentioned.

All his banana boat team is done

He’s the only one worth it

Paul is injury prone
Wade is done

Wherever he goes I hope he goes to a team where he can score 20 and they still win

Warriors? :D

Warriors? :D
Well no but some of my friends have talked about that and the media has too.
That trip has been shot down as soon as that team's name came up.
Thunder would be a shocking team wouldn't it?:chuckle:
Never rule out SA either.

Clearly I want to retain LeBron.

But if he's dead-set on leaving, an under-the-radar move could be a LeBron for Boogie via sign-and-trade with New Orleans. That could be a low-key genius movie for LeBron because he'd get the glory of leading another historically unsuccessful, small market team to victory while not having to endure the scrutiny and frenzy that comes with places like L.A. and Philly.

With just a little more shooting he and Davis could wreck shit together, and Davis would be the perfect player LeBron could lean on while he ages (if he stays healthy that is, which admittedly is a huge if.) We of course could trade Boogie and Love for assets, unless we wanted to be a playoff contender. Combine all that with the #8 pick and it truly isn't that undesirable a spot to be in.

OKC would be one of the last destinations LeBron would go to, btw. Just out of the question entirely.

Cause I think minds change, and if GS keeps doing it, then he's gonna have to make a choice. Get paid or win titles. I guess I'm thinking he's gonna choose Win Titles.

Pass, very risky taking a guy coming off a torn achilles
But I do agree with you to trade LBJ

Frankly, it is time for lebron to move on. Yes he can still score but he takes too many breaks on defense. he will be 34 by next season, do we really want him 4 more years? Father Time never, ever loses
I certainly do not want him for one year and have to give up cedi and zizic to find a one year player

Plus, i do not see what the Cavs can do to challenge Boston who is the next power in the East or even Philly if they add a piece or two

Hopefully we can do a sign and trade with LBJ, and get some young talent back or picks

Move Love at next years deadline for as much as you can. Love will have value then

Move the expirings of Korver and JR when the opportunity arises for picks or young talent

George Hill, a veteran PG will have value...probably more at the deadline

Get a new coach that can..........coach !!

Start with Cedi, Zizic, Nance, TT(probably untradeable) and this years pick
see if the new coach can salvage Clarkson and Hood

Will not be pretty but that is what happens

Window is closed

Do people seriously still believe LeBron would accept a sign and trade to a team that removed key players or assets from said team? Come on now...

It would be no different then when he left for Miami. He allows the Cavs to do a sign and trade for some minor compensation such as a few picks, or he simply signs straight up with another team while having that team maneuver players he doesn't want to make room for him.

Never has a player had more control or held an entire organization hostage the way LeBron has. And he has done it twice to the same organization! But what can you do? Nothing. You contend year in and year out, but know that a permanent move as a cellar dweller is always right around the corner.

Bizarre how things change so quickly. A week ago LeBron's return seemed a formality. Would be unfortunate if Boston is once again the team that sends him packing...

Holding out that home court will jolt the current psyche. I would still rather lose to Warriors in the finals (yes, again) than the Celtics in the ECF.

We paid more than we should have, but we have the benefit of hindsight now. At the time TT signed his contract there was hope that he was going to become our "Draymond Green". He was coming off a very good playoffs and was only 24 years old. But, he's fallen apart since then so the contract is now terrible.

Green? No one was ever under the illusion he could develop a three point shot. 8-10M a year would have been a fair deal, and that isn't with hindsight- most thought it to be the case.

This was another example of how horrible Griffin was at negotiating.

JR had ZERO offers. The Cavs bailed him out.

Is anyone else glad for LBJ that Kyrie at least isn't available? The idiot narratives the media would have spun if we were 2-0 down and Kyrie was slicing us up would have been a real embarrassment.
