LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Every year you get with him is a year that will be fun and exciting.

That's an opinion, not a fact. I personally did not find last season to be "fun and exciting". There were a few fun games in the playoffs, but for most of the regular season, they were unwatchable for me personally. And I don't think making the Finals and getting steamrolled is a prize sufficient to justify an unwatchable regular season.

I know that others may see that differently, and there's nothing wrong with that. But to some extent, that difference in how we measure "fun and exciting" means that there is no correct answer in these arguments. It's just a matter of personal preference.

I must be just an old man but I find this "look at me" instead of just playing the game with a team is going to ruin sports as a whole. I'm from the era where the name on the front of the jersey was way more important than the one on the back.

Question for the board, if Lebron leaves, will the Cavs end up with one of the ten worst records in the NBA? I ask because of the next year's draft pick which is top ten protected.

I don't want him to leave, but I also don't think it is the end of the franchise if he does.

Personally, I'm thrilled if he decides to stay here just one more year, even if it is only by default because there aren't other good options out here. That kind of decision is great for the Cavs. It gives us an entire year to try to fix flaws in our cap situation, develop young players, etc.. It's something we haven't been able to do for the last 4 years because we've pretty much had a "win now" gun to our head the whole time. Next summer, we'll be in a much better position to build a better team around LBJ than we are right now. So if that's what happens...I think it would be great.

Also, I'd be really interested to see if LBJ chooses to take part in actually trying to help develop young guys the right way -- see if he has that kind of leadership in him. It could be a lot of fun to watch.

If he comes back and we do not trade any of the youth it might be the best way to keep him long term.

Playing with sexton, cedi, zizic, nance and hood might rejuvenate him. One thing for sure the massive ego's would all be gone. Not starting the season with JR, wade, Shumpert etc or dealing with IT has to be a positive

We can still move JR, Korver, use the mid-level for more pieces

Maybe trade TT for an equally bad contract but someone who might be a better fit

If the young guns play well, it might make us a lot more attractive next season rather than trade the young talent now for a bunch of one year veterans.

Build a team, not a collection of parts

I would bet on it. Lakers were tenth worst team last year and had 35 wins.

No Lebron, transition year with youth, move Love? = 30 wins max.

If Lue is the coach yes, but this team could be as good as last year's Pacers team.

Imo Last regular season wasn't fun because the players seemed to care less for the results than even the average fan.

if you had no faith in the roster it was practically a 6 month death march to getting routed in the finals.

Absolutely. I would hope that we'd keep Korver. He'd be the perfect guy to help younger guys with their shots, especially someone like Mathias. Teach him the nuances about coming off screens quickly, etc.. And obviously Sexton too.

Mathias can teach Korver at this point.

Korver should work with Sexton, Cedi and the likes.

We really don't know what Ty Lue's offense would look like. Considering the amount of iso ball we run under James. Who knows, it could be a legitimate offense. There have been glimpses of a quick ball moving offense under Lue

I could see that, I can also see that he would have value at the deadline for a team looking for a shooter

Was that before the 80's when the league was on tape delay? What turned the league around were the names on the back. Has nothing to do with age but state of mind. I've been watching since the late 60's and enjoy it just as much if not more.

Miami Heat reporter saying stuff about all his stuff being moved there but apparently it would be a sign and trade.

god I hate the NBA.

Yeah, he's gone! Where there's smoke there's fire. Barring some major maneuver to bring in a star, I think he's already made up his mind. Cavs need to start thinking about how they're gonna fleece the Lakers.

Deng + Ball + Ingram + future 1st?

I actually think Ball and Sexton wouldn't be a bad back-court. Lonzo's 6'6, good defender, good facilitator. I wouldn't mind having him. Hell his dad might keep us relevant with all of his crazy takes.

Sexton
Ball
Cedi, Preston
Ingram
Nance, Zizic

That is one fast fucking team! Would be fun to watch at least.

Deng, Korver, Tristan, and Love all come off the books in 2020. We would have over $70M in cap space! Right when the team is ready to take the next step.
