LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Reading some of the LeBron hate on here some people are so Damn ungrateful. LeBron didn't have to come back at all.

yeah lmao let's act like it wasn't the best move to repair his reputation, while also being a good basketball move

no other title would have been as big for his legacy as the 2016 cavs one, none.

If enough people think the way I do, then it might not.

We'll see how things go in LA, and how LBJ finishes his career. For now, I would imagine that I'm not alone in my opinion.

I won't be mad if they give him a statue, but I could see Dan sharing my opinion. LBJ only gets a statue if he finishes his career in Cleveland. And that ship has sailed.

You absolutely aren't alone in your opinion. But time heals all wounds. The Indians put up a statue of Jim Thome for Christ sakes, and he hasn't been half as impactful as LeBron.

(OT, feel free to delete) One of the stories I heard was, when the Indians drafted Thome, they guaranteed the cost of his attending college if baseball didn't work out for him. He still left, he was the only free agent leaving Cleveland I've felt bad about. I still can't believe they rewarded such loyalty with a statue?

The Thome statue is even more baffling; we never won shit with the guy and he still left.

Lot of rush to build statues in downtown Cleveland, evidently.

I don't, obviously. But common sense says the greatest player to ever put on a Cavs uniform, who led the Cavs to their most successful period in franchise history, and who ended the city's 52 year drought gets a statue whether people like the way it ended or not.

I'm sure he'll get a statue once he retires; imo he deserves one for the championship along with his years/finals trips with the Cavs.

I hope I'm wrong but that might be the only major sport championship in Cleveland for another 40-50 years. :dunno:

I agree with the idea of erecting a statue of "the big three" to commemorate the 2016 championship.
The problem I have with that idea is that, let's face it, TT and RJ contributed more overall to us winning the title than Love. I think having their jerseys retired in the rafters side-by-side-by-side would be a nice commemoration to that glorious era of Cavs basketball that culminated in a championship.

The Thome statue is an abomination.

If I'm the Cavs, I'm waiting at least 10 years after James retires to commission a statue. Time heals all wounds, after all.

The city of Akron could/should put one up before that, and if they do, fair enough, let them have the statue.

What's this thread about? Kevin Love?

"You better not bail again or you are NOT getting that fucking statue."

HERE WE GO BROWNIE'S, HERE WE GO

(noted that the Indians are way closer)

Cavs should probably go back and un-retire a bunch of numbers in all honesty. I mean, I love Big Z, Larry and what Thurmond meant to the miracle of richfield, but...

The James statue stuff started because the question of Love having 0 retired. We will see how it goes, Love may very well play out his contract here, or we could see him dealt at the trade deadline this year. Neither would surprise me.

I also think that if the Cavs ever do a monument for a player, it will be LeBron and it should be, despite his wanderlust. I'd be cool with a James, Price, Carr monument park thing in front of the Q.

Get each "Golden" era so to speak (oh.. and Michael Doleac of course)

While I understand not wanting a statue of LeBron because he's left twice, I think it would be a bad decision by the Cavs to not build one.

#1 in franchise history in games played, minutes, FGM, 3ptM, FTM, Points, Rebounds, Assists, and Steals. Led the Cavs to 5 Finals appearances, the only 5 in franchise history. And, most importantly, brought a championship to Cleveland, breaking a 50 year drought.

He left in a controversial way but he came back and made things right. It would've been nice if he had finished his career in Cleveland but sometimes things don't play out the way they're supposed to. He still earned a statue.

Agreed. If Dan is in it for the long-haul with ownership of this team, and I believe he is, he will look petty among players and agents if he holds out on honoring the greatest Cavalier and arguably best basketball player of all time. Not exactly apples to apples comparison, but look at all the NBA players/former players trashing Toronto for how they treated Demar. Not that the franchise is going to implode, but agents and players view that organization differently now.

I think it becomes even more obvious a statue should go up, as time passes as well......it should be a point of pride one of the greatest to ever do it, spent a majority of his career in Cleveland. I've got issues with how LeBron has done things in the past, how he held this franchise hostage year after year, how he left the first time, how he's fallen in love with LA, etc....I get all of it........at the end of the day, only 1 franchise truly has the "rights" to building a LeBron statue. I think Cleveland would be really petty not too. It'd be pretty cool to see "the block" memorialized right outside Quicken Loans IMO.
