LeBron James

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I mean it's going to be Durant/Irving with the Knicks yes? So that would disrupt the Warriors a bit.

Even...then. The Rockets, Thunder are still very much there. And the Warriors themselves are still a good team even sans Durant.

Hell I would even argue that his business has suffered a bit. People seem to underrate the Cavs fanbase in that regard.

I saw them selling LeBron James NBA 2k action figures at Wal-Mart.

Is there anyone here who would buy one of those things with him in a Lakers jersey?
More so. Nba ratings are way down this year. Like 12%. LeBron out west. Starting at 10:30. Ratings have tanked back east and people out west rather go to the beach. LeBron was prime time 3 times a week .....now? Now ? Not at all

I really wonder if Lebron is purposefully giving up on the season to avoid getting waxed by GS in the first round. Their chance at the 7th seed is just about dead, so hes staring down a humiliating loss in R1 to the Dubs if they make it. He would probably rather miss the PO all together and blame injuries. Sad state of affairs out there in Tinseltown. But it makes me happy lol.

He came out publicly and said he was going into "playoff mode" early so as to make the playoffs. If he was planning on sandbagging it, he wouldn't have done that.

No. He’s still the arrogant POS we thought he was after going to Miami.
He’s an amazing ball player, ONE of the best ever, but he doesn’t have that fire. The no quit, never give up demeanor. He’s the kid in little league who’d throw his bat and helmet and cry after striking out.
I may be in the minority, but I think after the team won in 2016, he packed it in. It’s okay too, long term for the Cavs it was only going to harm us.
Thank god he is gone. Let’s build it from the bottom and hope we get unbelievably lucky again.

The only reason that I'm glad that LeBron left is because now I am not refreshing RCF every 5 minutes and I can actually get some work done. lol

Yeah, LeBron really thinks he alone is enough to give GS a run for their money. However, father time has caught up with him.

Im surprise the Lakers haven't brought in Melo yet. Who are they waiting to get bought out? Melo just seems like the best option and give the Lakers one more vet to just sit their young guys like LeBron probably wants to do.

oh come on, that's BS. I didn't see any quit during the Eastern Conference playoffs last year. You don't make 8 NBA Finals in a row by being a quitter. He is just getting old and let his Hollywood ego get him into a bad situation with the Lakers.

I really think when he's hung it up, he'll regret going to the lakers. Magic isn't a good GM and he basically had it made in Cleveland. I guess it's better for his business prospects, but even if they get Davis in the offseason, they'll have to give up so much they still be the top team in the west. He should have stayed in CLE and rode off in to the sunset.
I had mentioned it before but he should have just retired for a year. He could rested his body, made his shit looney movies he cares so much about and more importantly allowed us to fix the mess he and amateurish agent created. It would allow the team to tank to get draft capital which we are doing, clear the books of the contracts Rau Paul got for scrubs like JR and TT, and allow us build up Cedi and Sextons game all the while he keeps his finals appearances intact. Then he comes back as the savior and leads us back to finals sans GS. All you hear now is how he looks old and is not the best anymore because his in real danger of missing the playoffs.

4 GB from the 8 seed Spurs (3 GB + Spurs own tiebreaker)

Yeah the Lakers aren't making the playoffs... The Spurs aren't the only team in LeBron's way... One of SA/Sacramento/Minny will take that 8 seed. It's really crazy to think about. Before the season I really thought they'd be somewhere in the 6-8 range... But not even making the playoffs after signing the best player on the planet? I'm enjoying the schadenfreude.

Ahhhh, you never did any work anyway..lol..
But it is interesting that he is having a harder time with this Faker team than in Cleveland.
Now granted that mess of FA's that came in before all the trades just didn't seem to care but the Fakers don't have much firepower at all..
Oh well....

I'm going to make an auto racing comparison here. This is...apples to oranges but it feels familiar. Bare with me.

In 2008? Sam Hornish Jr. left the IndyCar Series to go to NASCAR.
Hornish had three National titles (their term for championships) and an Indianapolis 500 to boot. However the IndyCar Series was viewed as "lesser" in terms of exposure at the time and the money was somewhat less. Still...he was decently popular in that series and seemed to be reaping the benefits of it.

He comes to NASCAR with a host of other ex-IndyCar drivers around that period...and he...flat out struggles. He's also pretty much forced to start over because the NASCAR scene pretty much didn't bother to watch him over in IndyCar nor did they seem to care.

He wound up all but ending his career in NASCAR with a quiet whimper and to little fanfare, fairly anonymous. He didn't have very many fans in Cup and his IndyCar fans all moved onto to other drivers. His contemporaries who stayed/returned to IndyCar are still beloved in the sport and are still rather visible to this very day.

This is as close of a comparison I can make to LeBron during this day and age. Magic and the Lakers probably sold him on being this larger than life figure in LA. The movies, the cash and the ability to be even bigger than he was in Cleveland.

What he wound up getting? Well...we're seeing it. Lakers fans aren't rushing to love him. They have their own "legends" to prop up and they just don't care any more it seems.

He came out publicly and said he was going into "playoff mode" early so as to make the playoffs. If he was planning on sandbagging it, he wouldn't have done that.

In his mind he's probably trying to go all out, make the playoffs. Then magically be out come playoffs with his groin injury to avoid the GS massacre.

Sarcasm. I don't think even he'd be that big of a POS.

But seriously, yeah, he knows not going to the playoffs is going to really look bad.

The LB haters will eat him alive for it. I think LB really cares about what others think.

He's got thin skin. It's why he declared himself GOAT. He's that sensitive about the topic.

FWIW, that Karceno guy on YouTube claims the inside story is LeBron only has two Lakers teammates he talks to outside of the game and practice, that's Rondo primarily and McGee. Rondo acts as the voice of LeBron to the other teammates when LeBron has something important to say. Of course LeBron talks to the guys during the game in practice, but outside of that, they don't talk and his teammates don't want to talk to him. Karceno also claims that when they had that players only team meeting a couple weeks ago, LeBron was the only no show. This really pissed off the teammates because in front of the cameras LeBron said "these are my guys" and all that typical BS he spews and at the same time the players agents were telling them LeBron was pushing them out. Some players were openly critical at no show James in this meeting saying hey we're busting our ass in these games and there's stories out there that LeBron doesn't think were good enough....etc. Karceno claims all the media out there like McMenamin know all this stuff, but have been told to be quiet (at least for now)
