LeBron: "We hated Clevelanders growing up"

Hitting a corner 3... in Shaqs face... with the clock winding down... in the finals...

Any more brain busters?

edit: I mean why not: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qWUIZqoNr4Q

Listen, if you actually want to debate the issue, let's do it, but if you're best reasoning is that Hakeem had some awesome highlight plays against a young Shaq(3rd year in the NBA) in the NBA finals(Houston was the defending champs) then it's not worth wasting my time.

Yeah I mean my whole proof is in the pudding. He was the best center in a league where centers ruled the day back then.

I post videos where he completely dominates the games best centers to ever play and you want talk stats?

You and I both know stats only tell half the story. We also know Russel and Wilt never had to face a man like Hakeem who is and probably will forever be the best all around center to ever play.

So, your argument is, let me get this straight..

"Stats don't tell the whole story, short youtube clips do."

Huh?!

Listen, I'm one of the biggest Hakeem supporters out there, but don't frame that statement like that. Go back and watch that clip and listen to the commentary. The Rockets were up 10 and Dream pulled that three with 13 seconds left. I'm pretty sure that was a "this is for fun shot" and not an ice-cold-water-in-my-veins time-running-out-in-Finals-down-2 three-pointer. If he misses that shot, no big deal.

As far as comparing Hakeem to centers throughout the history of the league I put him easily top three and I often place him on the same level as a Kareem Abdul-Jabbar. I'm not sure how you can compare "better" or "best," but the thing I often point out is that Hakeem Olajuwon was the most well-rounded center, possibly player, in the history of the league. How many 7-footers can record 2+ steals and blocks per game in the same season (it's been done by only three players since the recording of those stats; Once by Gerald Wallace, once by David Robinson, and four times by Hakeem Olajuwon). He has recorded two quadruple doubles, even though one was taken away from him afterwards with the claim that he was given one too many assists.

Anyway, whether or not you think he's the best, I think it's quite obvious that he was the most well-rounded big man in NBA history.

It's not outrageous to say Hakeem was better than Shaq, especially since Hakeem was probably the only one of the only superstars to really win a title by themselves (at least in the past 20-30 years and without another all-star), but if you're going to make an argument, top 10 plays and highlights are the last thing you'd want to do. Maybe they can help your case every once in awhile, but can you imagine using those thing as "proof" to any argument to someone who didn't know who Hakeem was? I mean, someone could make Larry Hughes into an incredibly dynamic scorer via Youtube clips...

You would have a point if they were random clips from a random game. However, I didn't do that.... I showed clips from a finals that showcased some of Hakeems work... against a young Shaq who was defending Hakeem to the best of his ability as shown...

So your best argument is that because Wilt and Russel put up some great numbers against... who... that they are clearly better than Hakeem?

I mean, what exactly is your argument?

He was the only player in history to have the finals MVP, Defensive Player of the Year, and MVP in the same year...

He ended his career as the leagues all time shot block leader...

Only player in history to be on both the top 10 in blocks and... STEALS.

Frame statements? What part of that was in Shaqs face with the clock winding down was a frame? Yes, it was an icing shot... that's why I liked that clip...

An icing shot? If he misses it the Magic rebound down double-digits with a deficit that equals a point-per-second. That's just a :thisguy: kinda shot.

You're framing it by saying "he made that shot with the clock winding down... in the Finals!" like it was to win the damn game or even make a two possession game a three possession game. It made a four possession game a five possession game with just over 10 seconds remaining. It was a cool shot that would be considered poor sportsmanship in today's game (yes, jacking up threes up 10 with no shot clock remaining is considered poor sportsmanship in the 2000's). Stop acting like that one clip of a jack-around shot at the end of a game is proof that Hakeem was a stone cold killer. There are so many other things that prove that... you're actually doing Dream a disservice.

Uh no?

I said it was in Shaqs face, in finals, with the clock winding down. Icing on the cake, or laughing and pointing emoticon shot, whatever floats ur boat.

I didn't say "at the buzzer, for the win!" did I?...

Hm. Perhaps you should check up on that and get back to me.

But it's a completely meaningless shot. Does it matter that he shot it with the clock winding down in the Finals? No, because there was 10 seconds left and they were up 10. It could be in preseason game #1. Don't get me wrong, it's cool that he made a three with Shaq closing out, but hardly worth mentioning.

Now when you're talking about hitting threes with the clock winding down this is the stuff worth mentioning...

Which is why in my next post I included a montage of Hakeems overall performance WITH that same clip in the mix... FROM those SAME finals. Pay more attention.

I'll stick to breaking down a person's entire career rather than highlights that must be less than 10 minutes in length in order for you to embed. I firmly believe that Hakeem is a top 3 center of all-time but that's based on his body of work, accomplishments, and several statistics.

If Wilt had more Youtube footage you'd probably be on his dick too, unfortunately.
