The salary for the team is 24 million next year, and that's assuming that Wade picks up his player option (even if he doesn't, his salary would be somewhere around that).

They have the room to add LeBron and Wade without anyone taking a pay cut, and the room after that to add a significant piece, but not a max player.

I don't think LeBron is going there, but they are the only team that can have two superstars this offseason.

of course, that totally ignores the fact that with signing lebron they would have 6 guys under contract tying up about close to 85% of their cap. so, unless their team is going to be lebron, wade, beasley, and a bunch of scrubs, I doubt this happens.

I think it's pretty clear that LeBron's joined the free agency Fight Club since he doesn't want to talk about it...
I'm also guessing he's kicking Bosh's skinny ass.

Anyone hear Steve Nash on PTI last night?

"The minute I feel sorry for Mike Dantoni, I just remind myself that next year he has Lebron and the #1 pick." (note, the Knicks don't have a #1 next year, it goes to Utah)

Knowing that "winning" is the most important thing, you know Lebron won't do us the sign and trade courtesy and net us any talent IF he leaves....I couldn't imagine being in Ferry's shoes dealing with this...

Can i state again that I can't stand the deusche that is Lebron...great ball player, but his ego, his body language, his shenanigans....make it stop.

"deushe"....

As for Steve Nash, I missed it. I'm sure he was being goofy because there are so many things retarded about that statement, most notably the Knicks' pick going to Utah, as you noted.

The team that I think has a promising future would be New Jersey. I know that the arena is a couple of years away. But, they have Devin Harris, CDR, Courtney Lee, Lopez, and they'll definitely have a lottery pick this next draft to add to that core. I look at the Cavs going forward and I see a lot of issues. Z and Shaq are old and will need to be replaced. We'll need a 2 guard because AP is old and Delonte isn't reliable. It is tough for Cleveland to upgrade their squad. FA agents don't come here unless we overpay them. The draft picks are late in the round so it is almost impossible to improve there. The trade venue may be an option. The Cavs do have expirings. But, young talent and draft picks needed to sweeten an trade offer are something that the Cavs lack. Ferry certainly has some tough decisions ahead.

The arena is facing some problems... Officials now in Brooklyn within this econony IMO are not going to be so easy to give in...

Do you realize the amount of people that will be displaced if the deal goes down???

NEW YORK (AP) -- Opponents of the Brooklyn arena planned for the New Jersey Nets have filed a lawsuit seeking to overturn a state agency's approval of the project.

The lawsuit was filed Thursday in Manhattan state Supreme Court. It seeks to block a Sept. 17 move by the Empire State Development Corp. to approve a delayed construction plan for the Atlantic Yards project.

The suit was filed by several elected officials and Brooklyn neighborhood groups.

The lawsuit is the latest of several legal challenges to the 22-acre Atlantic Yards project. The project is to include the basketball arena, office towers and apartments.

Developer Forest City Ratner says it is not surprised that opponents ''who pledged to sue early and often are still suing.''

We used to CLOWN them for those.

They used to look like they were playing with Maxi pads on their arms:chuckles:

I'm starting to wonder if that is Cleveland. We won't be able to get him any help through the draft, that's for sure, while he's here. Assuming we don't hit on some 2nd round gem or something. We'll be strapped so we won't be getting him help in free agency....

Trades?

You know, as much as it makes the blood of people that post here boil, Cleveland doesn't have a lot of good longterm pieces going forward. That is my biggest concern. They have Mo, Andy, and Hickson. Sadly, Delonte's future is really up in the air. They're going to have to get a longterm C and SG for sure. Longterm, I don't think that is a multiple championship type core. Plus, as you stated, it is tough for them to upgrade as well. The draft isn't really an option since the picks are far too late. As we've all seen, FA signings are tough since Cleveland isn't the most desirable place to live. The trade route is a possibilty. Although, I still think expirings will only take you so far. Young talent and draft picks are often needed to seal a deal unless there is a scarcity of expirings around the league.

Passing on Jennings could cost Knicks LeBron
Dan Wetzel

By Dan Wetzel, Yahoo! Sports 14 hours, 49 minutes ago

Last spring, the New York Knicks were intrigued enough about Brandon Jennings(notes) that they brought the point guard in for not one, but two, private predraft workouts. Jennings was the trailblazing high school star who took his game from Compton, Calif., to Rome, bypassing the standard year of NBA-mandated, NCAA purgatory.

Jennings had his backers inside the Knicks organization. No, he hadn’t played much as a professional in Italy, but his development and demeanor in practice were there for anyone willing to look.
The Knicks held the No. 8 pick in the draft, but passed on Brandon Jennings, who went 10th.

Considering New York’s bottomless scouting budget, the fact it was desperate for a point guard and had already mortgaged multiple seasons in pursuit of LeBron James(notes) next summer, you’d have thought getting a read on Jennings would’ve been a priority for Knicks general manager Donnie Walsh.

Apparently, it wasn’t. Not even repeated workouts were enough. That included a head-to-head with Tyreke Evans(notes) (who would be taken fourth by the Sacramento Kings) where observers say Jennings more than held his own.

New York, sitting at No. 8 in last June’s draft, desperate for just the franchise-changing talent that Jennings offered, passed anyway. They went with big man Jordan Hill(notes) from the University of Arizona.

Jennings slid to Milwaukee, where the 20-year-old has electrified the league. He’s flirting with triple-doubles one night, dropping 55 points the next. There haven’t been many debuts like this. The 6-3 Bucks are even winning.

Hill, meanwhile, is averaging 4.2 points a game in reserve duty. New York is a pathetic 2-9.

This is more than a classic case of a blown draft pick, though. New York isn’t alone in missing on Jennings. The implications for the Knicks, however, could be far more wide-ranging and long-lasting than other teams.

The Knicks could’ve entered the Summer of LeBron ready to court the King with the lure of playing along a franchise point guard and tremendous outside shooter – two things he’s mostly lacked during his time in Cleveland. Instead, the Knicks look like their typical circus self....more

Q: You know how when top recruits in basketball or football make their college decision, they often call a press conference and put the three hats of the schools that made the final three in front of them ... then pick up the hat of the school of choice and put it on? What if LeBron announces he will pick his 2010-11 team live on ABC on a certain date for a show called "LeBron's Choice?" What type of crazy ratings would that get?
-- Drew, Columbus, Ohio

SG: "LeBron's Choice" sounds too much like a Lifetime movie -- like, he became the first NBA player to make himself pregnant and now he can't decide whether to give up the baby for adoption or not. I'd go with something more newsy, like "Decision 2010: LeBron's Verdict" or "The LeBron Sweepstakes." Actually, it might make more sense to make this a six-episode show, along the lines of "The Bachelor" -- maybe "The LeBrachelor"? -- in which he'd start out with 29 GMs, then narrow them down to eight, then six, then four, then three, then two, then one.

Regardless, you're right -- this should be a televised event. If LeBron were smart, he would market the event through his company, sell the rights to a network and reveal his choice on that show. We know what the offers will be. (New York, Miami, Chicago, Memphis, New Jersey, the Clips and the Zombie Sonics can offer the max. Cleveland could offer the max plus an extra year. Nobody else could offer as much.) It's a cut-and-dry thing. So why not? He could even make it pay-per-view. If people were willing to pay $44.99 for a UFC 106 card headlined by Jenna Jameson's washed-up husband fighting a guy who hadn't won in two years, I'm pretty sure they'll pony up $44.99 for "Decision 2010: LeBron's Verdict."

:chuckles: Pretty funny idea.

I bet LeBron's media whoring self would think about it.
