Very true...in fact, both Akron and OU would both be doing for the season trifecta against their respective opponents.

One thing I forgot to mention in my previous post. It'll be interesting to see how the new format affects the top seeds. In many years in the MAC, a team simply gets really hot for a week and rides that momentum for 4 games. Although the two top teams got byes into the semis, I don't really see why it would change anything. Akron will have had a full week off by the time they play. Buffalo and Kent will have had six days off. Ohio will have been off for five. Generally those types of layoffs don't play into the hands of the higher seeds.

Marketing purposes. Much better for the conference to have a giant MAC logo at center court than the Cavs logo.

This is just a myth that people think is true because it gets repeated. Stealing this from the Ohio message board.

Those words were mentioned more than once last night, as both Akron and Ohio have 2-0 records against their opponents this evening. That's a common axiom in sports as well. But I wanted to see how accurate it was, at least pertaining to the MAC tournament.

Going back to Ohio's thrilling tournament win over Buffalo in 2005, eleven times teams have met in Cleveland where one team has come in with a 2-0 record over the opponent. Overall, in those eleven meetings, the 2-0 team is 8-3 in those match-ups. That doesn't seem as though it's hard to beat a good team three times to me. Seems as though that's just something people have said so many times, everyone starts believing it.

2-0 Kent State lost to OHIO
2-0 Akron lost to OHIO

2009:
2-0 BGSU beat OHIO

2008:
2-0 Kent State beat Miami
2-0 Kent State beat Akron

2007:
2-0 Toledo beat EMU
2-0 Akron beat Kent State

2006:
2-0 Kent State beat Buffalo
2-0 Miami lost to OHIO
2-0 Kent State beat OHIO

2005:
2-0 OHIO beat Buffalo

I can talk about inconsistency and chemistry issues all I want in regards to Kent, but the fact is that Akron was simply the better basketball team. Better size, better bench.

With the way he always undresses Abreu and the rest of your defense, I could care less what he wears. Dennis Rodman wore wedding dresses and was one of the best PF's that ever lived.

Kind of reminds me of the prostitutes and strippers that hang out just outside of crAkron's ghetto-ass campus. I've only been to campus once and stayed with this chick in some old Holiday Inn that they turned into a dorm. What a shit hole. Oh yeah, and our team is better than yours.
