Marvel has really done an astounding job in creating high quality films of all kinds of flavors.

Yeah, it's really incredible how high the quality has stayed, especially of late. What's the last bad, or at least kind of crappy, Marvel film? Thor 2? Or was Iron Man 3 after that?

Iron Man 3 was just awful. Thor 2 is at least watchable.

Iron Man 3 works if you think of it as a Shane Black buddy cop movie. Almost like a high tech Lethal Weapon sequel.

Thor 2 is easily the worst Marvel movie of the lot, but Ragnarok more than made up for it by practically rebooting the character and the story to make it more of an adventure comedy. It saved that franchise.

Iron Man 3 had its moments, but was uneven overall. I still enjoyed it.
It’s way better than the absolute dreck DC has put out ever since the Dark Knight franchise ended. (Wonder Woman aside)

Ultimately Marvel has hit it out of the park by making superhero movies that all have sub-genres, and picking very talented but not super well-known directors the freedom to give their vision for these films.

Hiring guys like Taika Waititi and Ryan Coogler were A+ director choices, and I hope Marvel keeps continuing down that path.

Marvel has got this whole “world building” thing down to a science now, to the point where Avengers: Infinity War is probably the most hyped movie of my lifetime. I can’t wait for it.

Loved the movie. It's definitely up there for.

I hope to see more of Man ape in the future.

In my top tier of MCU movies I have: Winter Soldier, GOTG 1 and Civil War

In tier 2 I have: Avengers, Iron Man

Everything else is in tier 3 for me. Not they are all the same, because I definitely like Ant Man ahead of Iron Man 3. But those 5 kinda stand out for me, and the top 3 even more so.

I put Black Panther solidly in tier 2 after the first viewing.

I like how Marvel is keeping their movies as comic book movies, but also bringing in other genres. This movie felt half coming of age movie and half Bond/spy movie. But it all worked.

I do think people are overrating Killmonger as a villain. He was good, but I think people are overrating him because of how weak Marvel villains are.

I agree with the bolded as it pertains to the villains of many Marvel franchises. But X-Men and Spider-Man have some fantastic villains though the MCU hasn't had the rights to explore them (barring recently with Spider-Man). Batman has the best villains by far but I'd put a number of X-Men and Spider-Man villains ahead of anyone else from DC.

As an aside, I liked Killmonger. There was something daunting yet compelling about him. In that sense, he reminded me a little of Magneto (another Marvel villain loosely based on Malcolm X).

I do think people are overrating Killmonger as a villain. He was good, but I think people are overrating him because of how weak Marvel villains are.

I think people are rating him as the best Marvel villain because he was a multi-dimensional, multi-faceted, and fully fleshed out character unto himself. You saw his evolution play out from childhood and what his motivations were and they were quite compelling.

I felt Marvel missed an enormous opportunity with Ultron, who is also a compelling character, by changing his origin from Hank Pym's creation to Tony Stark... It just made Ultron a generic runaway AI, rather than a darker version of his creator with an Oedipus complex.

So of all the current-run of MCU Marvel villains, Killmonger is the only one that's actually had some gravity or dimension to the character. Perhaps Magento could be added to that list ... but that's about it.

@gourimoko Did you watch the Netflix Luke Cage series? Just curious how that compares to Black Panther in terms of how it handled black characters. I thought Luke Cage was great. Loved the vibe of it, and the way it kind of parodied blaxploitation flicks at times. Only real issue with it was they got rid of the better villain way too soon in favor of one who was just kind of a shrug of a bad guy.

I haven't but have heard nothing but great things about it... Will add it to my queue for sure.

And then there was that one time Luke Cage flew all the way to Latveria for $200 Doom's men promised him. When Doom said he was crazy, Luke Cage punched him in the face until Doom gave him his money and then thanked him for revealing his minions to be corrupt and incompetent.

Folks should re-watch the Infinity War trailer.

Things are way more clear now. Thanos is after that vibranium mountain.

Most of the film takes place in Wakanda. Which is awesome. I've loved the idea of Wakanda since reading the comics as a kid in the 80s. Along with Latveria. Not so much Genosha.

where is the next page ?

And this is what makes Doom awesome all in one page: A man of his exact word, a code of honor and immense strength.
