Mike Brown

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
What made you come to this conclusion?
Just curious.

He demoted his assistant coach Brian Scalabrine whom wouldn't even sit near Jackson on the plane rides to and from games. His other assistant coach was caught recording him during practices and in his office and was fired only to be immediately hired by the Celtics.

There's obviously much more to this story that went on behind the scenes than the Warriors want to admit. Otherwise, they wouldn't fire the guy with a winning record. I'm not sure this is the coach we need around Kyrie and the issues he already brings to the team. If we're trying to build a culture, I don't think Mark Jackson is the guy to do it.

I'm more worried about the 4 of 5 spots in our starting lineup that may need to be filled.

I like Mark Jackson as a coach as he really transformed that GS team but he seems to be hard guy to work with and I'm not sure I want to invest him with GM duties as well.

I'm not aware of anyone saying they would want him as the GM.

As far as his coaching is concerned, I think Golden State's relative success this year is due to the fact Curry and Bogut stayed healthy, Draymond Green emerged as a very solid player (and took Harrison Barnes' minutes), and Iguodala nicely complemented the rest of the roster. Now maybe Jackson deserves some credit for making it work, but it could also be (somewhat reasonably) argued the team underperformed a bit. It seems GS management feels so.

The HC needs to maintain the support of his players as well as the GM/front office. It seems Mark Jackson succeeded in the former, but not in the latter.

There is a reason he was fired.

The guy is a glorified salesman / preacher. In a lot of ways he is the exact contrast to MB. As MB may not have that special something to connect with his players Jackson has it in spades. Jackson however is known to be extremely weak in the x's and o's department.

He also has his players attend his sermon and on a behind the scenes on NBA tv they showed him meeting individually with each player to discuss how god could be seen in their game. This guy is bat shit crazy.

Hey man, we need all the help we can get to finally win a championship. If Mark Jackson can get the Good Lord on our side we might actually have a shot next year :chuckles:

Not a fan of any organization changing coaches after one year but I am also not a fan of bringing back Brown in the first place. He showed some growth but if we could land Mark Jackson, or a first time coach like Iowa States Fred Hoiberg or even take another Stab at Izzo then I am all for it!

I just have no clue why teams hire coaches that are more of a product of their talent then their talent being a product of them. Examples Brown with Lebron and D'antoni with a younger Nash.

From what I am hearing, the only way Mark Jackson could save his job was making it to the finals.

I always had the weirdest feeling that Brown was canned as a favor to a certain soon-to-be signed free agent.

Just a nutty thought that I couldn't shake.
That is not the case. LeBron was open to playing for any coach (or at least giving them a shot) when he came back to the Cavs, including Mike Brown. Legitimately. Their relationship wasn’t bad. The org never would have hired Brown in 2013 if they thought it would hinder LeBron coming back the next summer.

The primary reason why Brown got fired was because Kyrie hated him. Capital H hated. There was concern from the organization that Kyrie would not have signed his rookie max extension if Brown remained the coach, which we needed Kyrie to do. First and foremost, that was the reason why Brown had to go.

We know the players’ opinions now. We know because journalists from The Athletic spoke to 108 players, asked these questions (and more) and granted anonymity to allow players to speak their minds.

Former Cavs coaches.

Maybe we could hold onto a guy for once.

(Now that LeBron isn’t calling the shots anymore)

JBB got at most 1 vote. May not have gotten any. Interesting to see who is and isn't on the list.
