Minor League Opening Night 5/4/21 (& 1st week games)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
It appears that Akron has already called off its game on Sunday due to weather forcast...
Same message on the milb website & on the app.

Lynchburg got a 3 run HR by Noel in the 8th to take a 7-1 lead! Akron got a Solo HR by Oscar Gonzalez in the 6th to take a 5-1 lead!

......
Later in the inning, bases are loaded and Miller is up.... he hits a base clearing double! Clippers now lead 6-3!
It was Millers 2nd straight AB with the bases laoded. In the previous AB, he struck out

Personally he has been looking better than Jones at the plate... And in baseball 30% of the time is all you need to be successful!

Its a final in Lynchburg.

Hillcats win again. This time 7-1
-----------------------------------------
Lake County trails 2-0 in top of 9th but Captains have 2 on (via walks) & no one out.

edit: unfortunately timely hitting eludes the captains. They fall 2-0

Sadly the Captains once again couldn't take advantage with runners on... They lose 2-0

In his 1st game action at AAA this season Daniel Johnson is HOT... 2-2 with 2 walks & HBP.
Too bad Mercado is hitting 3rd in the lineup (behind DJ). 0 fer 5 with 9 LOB by Oscar already tonight.
--------------------------

Its over in Akron. RDucks win 5-1

Sweet Jezzz!
Its getting worse for the Washington affiliates.
Now 2-18 thru the 1st 5 days...

Mad, what's your take on Oscar Gonzalez? I've followed him a bit because he raked pretty good in high A. Do you think he could be diamond in the rough?

I am not high on him, especially with some of the other talented players due roster protection at the end of this year. There has been a knock against Tyler Freeman for not taking base on balls but Oscar draws a walk less often then Tyler. IBI (Indians Baseball Insider) had Oscar as the 66th rated prospect in the Tribe system coming into this season.

Would I like him to succeed? Yes
Would I spend money to purchase stock in him? Very unlikely as there are other players on my radar & I consider to be diamonds in the rough.

Lots of Jhonkensy early.. a lot, indeed..

Oscar Gonzalez is an OF with a Tim Anderson style of bat... That style of player rarely is successful in the pros on paper. So at the moment the money would be on him flopping but you never know honestly. I just think if he does make it to the pros it won't be for Cleveland
