Myles Garrett : NFL 2023 DPOY

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The thing you do with Garrett is you let him pick up the double team, but exploit that miss match by sending other's at the QB.

That actually great opens up the defense and allows us to make plays.

I think at one point I saw THREE total blockers on the guy. That's gonna be overlooked by the joe blow that just focuses on sacks, and such.

Reuben Foster was taken the pick after Watt and is also creating a lot of buzz for the Niners. I'm sure the Browns will focus on the players they drafted, not the players they didn't draft. It would have been great to take five or six players in the first round of this draft, but the three they took at great positional need are going to help down the road. The offense needed a playmaker, Njoku could end up the best receiver on the team. The safety position was horrid last season, Peppers has looked like a great fit.

The problem I've noticed from most is that there is this weird tunnel vision in regards to that. This comes from the media and some fans.

The "WE COULD HAVE HAD X, BUT WE DRAFTED Y" sort of thing. Sometimes it is indeed justified (Passing on Julio Jones) sometimes it's not.

I think right now the draft looks like we made out okay. One can say "BUT TRUBISKY" but if one could figure out how we could have gotten that guy AND Miles? I'd be open to hearing it.

For the time being it looks okay. It's not as bad when the two options are solid starter types and you can point to the guy making plays as the guy we took instead.

It's HORRIBLE when all you have to point to is say David Veikune.

He slipped under a Donovan Smith block and nailed Jameis. Smith is 1" Taller than Myles.

The man is goddamn gumby. I thought his peak might be multiple 10 sack years. It looks like that might be where he starts. What a goddamn freak.

I'll let Damien Woody explain my thoughts on it:

I was reading this Jordan Reed piece in SI a few days ago about how NFL players are getting too big and too fast given the collisions, and this popped up:

“Did you see [2017 No. 1 pick, defensive end] Myles Garrett at his pro day? I’ve never seen somebody that big and that lean move that fast. That’s just not normal.” Sumner smiles. “That’s what football is becoming.”

Even among NFL athletes, he's an absolute freak. What a treat to have him on the Browns.

Garrett is going to be one of those guys that is going to impact the game far more than stats will be able to indicate.

He's going to really make the game so much easier for everyone else.

Okay, I love the guy and everything too, but....

He looks more like a long-strider without the quickest of feet. Great bend, etc., but not the most explosive guy coming out of his stance on the edge.

Is that just me, or has anyone else had the same thoughts?

How dare you say something so negative about the Browns heralded top pick!
