NBA Draft Lottery Tuesday, May 17th

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
This is a draft where some GM are going over think things and some very good players are going to drop. I really think we’re going to get a “Kevin Porter Jr” type steal at 14!

I will be very depressed if Branham or Agbaji is the pick. The team needs a wing with size. Not another 6-5 Guard with limited playmaking and defensive questions. Yes people are hyping Agbajis defense but I'm not sold on it translating to the nba.

Yeah, we need a true sized SF. Sexton, Okoro, and LeVert can all be pushed around by true SFs. Need that true SF we can plug in for when match-ups make Lauri not viable at SF.

Truthfully. I want Dieng, Eason, Daniels or Sochan. I'm likely one of the few Cavs fans who want Sochan but I really like his upside especially his defensive upside next to Mobley and Allen.

There's risk in getting someone simply for being a better athlete and 6'8"
Of course there's big reward as well if shotmaking or even playmaking develop as well.

A big concern I have is struggling to find a longterm legit 3rd scoring option, because as tight as defense gets in the playoffs from the result of great team defense being familiar with an opponent over 6-7 games you simply NEED to be able to score. I fear LeVert just isn't a good enough shooter and obv. we know that even with massive growth Okoro will never be a 3rd scoring option/shotmaker/playmaker. Because of that, even though I also naturally tend to gravitate towards the athletic profile of a Eason, Dieng, or Sochan, I am keeping my mind open to guys like TyTy, Branham, and Ochai.

It's not just about the roster puzzle piece to bridge this past season to next. It's about the long term fit and pieces to surround Garland and Mobley with and I do believe that a great shooting, offensively proficient shotmaker/playmaker is a KEY long term ingredient. I also wonder if it bears out that those guys are harder to find than athletic 3&D guys. Of course if I could be convinced that Eason or Sochan had Barnes/Kawhie total package upside reachability, it'd be a 100% no brainer. But can we really say that confidently about those guys?

As far as Branham, I just did a 25 minute watch of his season highlights because I'm just not familiar with his game all that much. Not sure how I felt. The pluses were a true freshman who had to earn his role(Holtman doesn't really design his teams around incoming freshman) shot 50% from the field and 42% from 3P. He also came up big in the vast majority of big games: He took about 10 games to warm up but but once they hit conference play his shooting was near elite from all three levels. His mid range game is very good and he can get it off against contact and length, not just in open spaces. Definitely more crafty than any type of elite athleticism or elite first step, but I think some of that is his game(not looking for splashy dunks). He did have a few this year though were he dunked in traffic off a dribble drive with no issue. HIs TS% and EFG% were better than Ivey's and Johnny Davis, both who already got acclimated to college ball the year before, although obviously Ivey bring elite athleticism and more playmaking.

This is me not pimping for him, just looking to learn more about him just in case he is someone the Cavs are actually considering.

I'm fine with Tyty Washington. He has upside as a playmaker and we need a long term secondary playmaker next to Garland. We don't need another 6-5 SG who isn't a playmaker and won't be elite on defense which is why I don't care for Branham or Agbaji.
