NBA Draft Lottery Tuesday, May 17th

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm fine with Tyty Washington. He has upside as a playmaker and we need a long term secondary playmaker next to Garland. We don't need another 6-5 SG who isn't a playmaker and won't be elite on defense which is why I don't care for Branham or Agbaji.
But who on our roster is 6'5" that even has remotely similar games?

I feel like you're fixating on the height and not skill set/role/potential production.

Besides height, there is zero comparison between Branham or Ochai and Okoro.

And both Ochai and Branham profile to be far better shooters and especially 3P shooters then LeVert unless LeVert has a massive improvement to his career outside shooting.

So I don't get what you mean when you say "another 6'5" SG" because I don't see anyone on our roster at SG who does what Branham or Ochai would.

I do fully understand that TyTy is a completely different profile and role and like you, I am trying to keep an open mind to him when viewing the long term build around Garland/Mobley.

The Magic deserve nothing. They are Sactown east with less fans and a horrible sports town They are in a two sport market with 50+ million tourists a year and can't beat the Orlando City SC in attendance per game. They tried to get me into a six pack yearly package during the LeBron II years and threw the worst five games in with the Cavs.

I don't trust Ochais shooting to translate. He started the year at a crazy pace shooting wise. Then in February and March he was kinda terrible especially in March. And while they profile as better shooters then Okoro. As for Branham I think his defense is going to be beyond horrible and don't see him being enough of a scorer to make up for his bad defense.

Not making this as an argument to draft Ochai but to me, with over 460 3PA in the past two years(and 670 overall) I have zero worries about his 3P shooting translating very successfully to the NBA.

Neither Ochai or Branham are my top choices. I just think their are arguments that can be made to support why either could be good picks for us moving forward. Lots of other guys have some compelling cases to be made as well and like I said, I both understand and naturally am drawn to the idea of what an Eason, Dieng, or Sochan can bring as well. It's just that if they can score(and maybe more important shoot well from 3P) very well in the NBA playoffs long term, finding that SG who can will be so critical.

So its just a matter of timing.

Is it easier to solve the plus length big wing 3&D guy first and deal with the "efficient scoring/shooting 3rd offensive option who isn't always dependent on being set up by DG" shooting guard later? Or vice versa?

I want Kendall brown. 6’8 freak athlete who can play defense and can shoot some. Okoro probably isn’t going to be around much longer and brown has better potential and at least he’s 6’8 so he can guard everyone. Unlike okoro.

Just checked this guy out. Thanks. Def see the potential here at SF.

I'm cool with Brown, but I am interested in why you think Okoro won't be around much longer? You have to give these kids time. Look at Garland. Okoro is 21.

I think he’ll be used in a trade package. I don’t care how old okoro is he’s not going to turn into a good offensive player. He’s so far behind.

So, then how is he useful in a trade? Surely other people would see what you're claiming as well. He increased his 3 point shooting percentage pretty drastically this year, his field goal percentage went up, and his FT %, all while loging less time played than his previous year.

His salary and perceived potential could be trade bait. Trade him before it’s too late and he’s exposed as having little to no offensive game.

I'm not disagreeing with your take, but I still think there is a chance he becomes a solid bench piece.

Perhaps there's a team or 2 out there actually capable of designing a few plays to take of advantage of Okoro's ability to cut instead of forcing him to catch and shoot?

The problem with Okoro when he on like he was for that 5/6 game stretch last year with his catch and shoot from the corner it’s was beautiful….But when he off, like badly off , your right they don’t do nothing else with him, like his ability to cut and drive….

This off-season knowing he could find himself behind LeVert/Sexton/draft pick..He won’t be giving a free pass like he was the first 2 years, I would bet he working his game to the Max’s,…So we will know a lot more about him this year….
