New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Dave Chappelle's two netflix stand-ups dropped today, FYI. Will be watching this evening.

edit: Watched the first one last night...lots of good material, just odd seeing a jacked Dave Chappelle doing stand-up. He didn't shy away from the controversial (OJ, Cosby, discrimination), while poking fun at himself for his 10 year hiatus. Definitely worth watching.

I've been thinking that the best thing about Luke cage was it played on the blaxploitation genre with its style. Iron fist really only uses the worst parts of the king fu genre which are bad dialogue and weird names. Rand is poorly cast

That really was one of the things that helped Luke Cage stand out. I thought the story fell apart about two thirds of the way through the season, but I still really loved the style.

Iron Fist is pretty bad. I'm mostly through now and am just watching the rest to finish it.

Besides the miscasting and the weak fight sequences, the story just sucks. I mean, he can't center his fucking chi? That's why he can't use his iron fist? At least show us how he's so tormented that he has lost his inner balance or something. Right now it's like his batteries are old or something.

Then there's The Hand. Are we not supposed to like them because they deal heroine? A little background about why they're so bad would be nice.

I'm not a huge boob guy, but Joy would be a better character if her tits were a bit bigger.

Finished Iron Fist.

Going to drop it down to a 7/10.

Something didn't quite click with this show. I kinda kept waiting for it to really go to a new level but it never happened.
Still entertaining though
Yeah, I thought it was very average. I would put it on a level with Jessica Jones for me. Daredevil is definitely my favorite of the Marvel New York cluster.

The thing that bothered me the most the whole time is that he seemed to lack skills severely the entire time and only spent a very minor portion being able to actually use the Iron Fist. He really was not nearly as skilled/talented as the other Marvel New York heroes with their abilities by the completion of the series.

Also, his constant trust/dim-wittedness was a serious issue. I get it; it's based on the comics--but man did that play off poorly. The backstory origin for him was always going to be hard. They made some adaptations, which were necessary, but they really didn't delve much into his father's role as an Iron Fist.

However, now that it's finally done with the origin, I would hope that he can be badass in the Defenders.

Finished Iron Fist. I'd give it a 4/10 overall. That might have been generous.

I didn't really see the point of Shameless. I couldn't get into it.

Emmy Rossum one of my main reasons, had a thing for her since "The Day After Tomorrow". Show kind of has that "Intervention" effect, makes you feel better about your life while you are watching their shitty lives.

Watching it with my wife and there is tons of sex and messed up shit. Good break from Friends, Big Bang, and Scrubs reruns.

While watching Shameless, my wife and I ask each other "what are we watching?" then we keep right on watching it.

I loved Jessica Jones and thought David Tennant made a great villain.

I had no problem with the casting or the acting. I just found it infuriating that she had literally 8 chances to destroy the Purple Man the entire series. And after all those episodes... after she let him get away 8 times... after so many people died.... that's when she did it... when she could've just done that in like episode 3. It was like watching the goddam coyote try to catch the road runner.

Iron Fist had problems before production even started.

Not sure if anyone else remembers, but there were some pretty strong rumors at one point that Iron Fist wasn't even going to be made. I remember reading that the Punisher series might just replace him. There was also a rumor that Netflix might just make an Iron Fist movie. I imagine there were disagreements about race and casting and how much mystic/higher level powers to put in the show.

So I'm not sure Marvel and Netflix ever quite figured out what kind of show they wanted to make. And it shows.

I also read that Scott Buck was the showrunner for Iron Fist, aka the guy who was the showrunner for seasons 6-8 of Dexter. Which were basically terrible.

Also it looks like we are getting a Season 3 of True Detective.

I'm guessing your still watching Legion, its seems to get better and better to me and the style of each episode seems to vary which is kinda cool as well. Anyways the ratings have kinda stabilized at nothing great but enough to stick around as you can see in the above link, so I'll be interested to see where they go in the future especially with season finale this week.

Thank - yes, I'm still watching. The whole hipster in an ice cube thing confused the hell out of me, but i think you just have to go with the flow on this show. Still a blast to watch.

I wasn't sure what the fuck was going on in Legion for a couple episodes, but I think it was pretty good overall.
