New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The Leftovers is so effing good. Nothing like it on television. At this point I honestly feel terrible for people that like watching TV but won't give it a shot for whatever reason.
Theres no way to explain it to other people so its hard ti get anyone board. "People dealing with things" sounds ridiculous.

The writing is so good its like nothing youve seen before is all i can come up with

I don't think it's on Netflix or Hulu yet, I caught it on National Geographic the other night.

I had no idea it was that bad....
- Business owners standing on the roof of their store shooting at looters/rioters.
-gun battles on the street between owners and looters
-People being pulled from their car and beaten on the street if they were white or asian

Again, I was too young to really when this happened in 92. Makes the stuff that happened in Ferguson look like a walk in the park. Wild stuff

I watched it the other night too. I was younger when it happened and it is shocking how much worse it really was then I remembered.

It mad me sad because, fundamentally, some the key issues that sparked that riot, and the preceding Watts riot, still remain to this day.

LOL at Mac showing up on Fargo tonight.

Those comedian cameos are a highlight for Fargo.

I loved Key and Peele in season one.

Anyone like American Gods

just watched the first episode and my god is it visually stunning and intriguing

It's sad that The Leftovers never found an audience. I think it's the best original storytelling on TV. To only have source material for one season but yet be able to build on these characters in new and inventive ways has been a pleasure to watch.

I do find solace in the fact that it's neatly being wrapped up in 3 seasons. We have HBO to thank for that. I think 5-10 years from now, people will realize it's greatness. I just hope it brings in some much deserved emmy recognition finally. It's downright shameful that Justin Theroux, Carrie Coon, and Christopher Eccleston don't have one nomination between the three of them. Each episode is a masterclass in acting. Few shows move me in a way The Leftovers has and I attribute it all to the emotion-driven performances. The entire cast has this visceral chemistry I haven't felt since The Sopranos.

I read the book and I still have no fucking idea what happened in that episode. :chuckle:
My wife runs an international centre for folklore and she was still in the dark as to some of the aspects of the first episode. At least with fuller you know he will deliver. The 4th episode is amazing apparently

I enjoyed the book. It wasn't one of the best books I've ever read or anything, but I've always been a sucker for Norse mythology (I mean, my dog is named Loki, and that ain't from the Thor movies) so it definitely appealed to me. And that's obviously by no means the only mythology they represent.

Did you ever see the Almighty Johnsons? Pretty good show out of New Zealand (I think), about Norse Gods being reincarnated in modern times.

Its tough because you cannot get to seasons two and three without going through one. The source material presents an ice berg for lindelof to chunk off, but it seems to have required shocking, depressive story telling to keep ppl agog.

I haven't read the book, but i wonder how much better the story would have been if lindelof was given only the premise and full creative license. It seems like he killed off just about everything of the source material outside of the characters (who have changed substantially) and the departure. Both of which youre just kind of stuck with, and d.l. did all that he could about the protagonists and antagonists - introducing an entirely new set of each the moment he had opportinuty (season 2).

Religion scares everyone away.. God is dead. But that's unfortunate.. I am absolutely apathetic towards theology, and it hasn't made any impact on how awesome i think this show is

Working on Season 3 of Veep right now. That show is really funny. JLD is such a good actress. I didn't get a feel for that as much on Seinfeld, but she is just so good.

Having a hard time getting into fargo 3, even with carrie coon

Silicon Valley had one of it's funniest episodes this week. Where my Mike Judge fans at?!?
