New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Love shameless.

Starting season 3. Eerily similar to my family, just less members.

I'm Lip so far.

I was watching the Strain and Snowfall auto loaded.

it is a pretty good show.

"Oh, is this your friend? Well, don't worry. He died doing what he loved...being a dumb fucking rat."

Rick & Morty killing it this week.

Shameless is a fantastic show. Just great characters. A little over the top, but the characters still manage to be believable even if the world they inhabit is a bit of an exaggeration of our own. I'm not one hundred percent sure on this since it's been a while since I've watched it, but I think it was the season four finale that's one of my favorite finales in TV history. So fucking good.

Just want to comment one more time about how great the Battlestar Galactica miniseries is. It's basically a pilot for the show and it's probably the best pilot I've ever seen. It perfectly establishes all of the characters, sets up the major conflicts of the show, and reveals just enough to keep you intrigued.

Also, Edward James Olmos is just the fucking best in this. Definitely one of my top five or ten all-time favorite TV performances.

For reference, number one would probably be Walton Goggins on Justified, because he just fucking owns a show filled with a dozen fantastic characters and performances. Boyd Crowder was the role he was born to play.

It's gotta be Ian McShane in Deadwood for me. Just a perfect pairing of one of the most skilled actors of our time with a great character and a script full of long monologues that not many people could pull off.

That's an excellent choice as well.

Michael Chiklis on The Shield has gotta be up there.

And while it's not one of the best shows ever, Hugh Laurie on House was fucking amazing.

This is a fun debate, though. Need to figure out my top ten now. I think I'd have to rate comedies on a different scale than dramas.

Stringer Bell from The Wire should probably be up there. Just an incredibly charismatic performance from a star actor in a role that was pretty much a complete 180 from every other drug dealer portrayal.

Edit: and of course Don Draper and Walter White are always mentioned.

Idris Elba was definitely great. That said, I think I'd probably give the best actor award on that show to Michael Kenneth Williams for his Omar performance. Clarke Peters as Lester Freeman has to be up there as well.

I always thought Omar was a bit too outlandish. Granted the script called for it, he was the one larger than life character, but I never liked it as much as others. My personal favorite in the show was D'Angelo, but he just wasn't on quite long enough.

The Wire had a ton of great performances. Almost the entire principle cast was great on that show.

Hands down the greatest child actors I've ever seen. Just one awful child performance could have ruined the show, especially in season 4, but they were without fail superb.

Yeah, I think only Game of Thrones can really compare in the proper casting of child actors.

Speaking of Game of Thrones, Peter Dinklage probably cracks my top ten.

What sets the wire apart for me is how much those kids were counted on to carry the show. They were coming off one of the most critically acclaimed seasons of all time and decided to just shove all their plot lines to the background and put a full season in the hands of 4 complete unknowns. Add in Michael B Jordan's excellent role and they're the clear #1.

Yeah, those kids did a great job that season for sure.

Also, as far as Battlestar Galactica goes, Tricia Helfer put on a hell of a performance in addition to Olmos.
