New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I wonder how they'll make this all work.. I mean, Patrick Stewart is 77 years old. Perhaps in the 24th century that isn't an issue, and that's a feasible position to take. I also think they can make him look younger and if he's in shape enough for the part, it might work.

But I just wonder what his role would be? Surely he's not going to be a captain, right? Perhaps an Admiral with his own ship? That works... Will they bring back members of the old show? Will Brent Spiner be back as an aging B4? LeVar Burton? Gates McFadden?

I would imagine Marina Sirtis and Jonathan Frakes would be down but... they were off doing their own thing on the Titan, but even then Riker should be beyond that stage in his career. It wouldn't make sense for a 65 year old Riker to still be just a captain would it? Maybe he's a commodore at this point? Maybe that's how he and Picard can end up on the same ship, because Riker doesn't have a command of his own? ... or maybe they just don't redo that dynamic in the new show.

I wouldn't mind some CG facial-reconstruction for Data using a different actor with Spiner's younger face smeared over him on some Tron/Rogue One type shit. That would be dope, and Spiner still has the voice for the part.

I think he is an Ambassador according to the comic book that preceded the first JJ Trek film.

If he is an ambassador, he can hitch a ride with Admiral Riker, or Captain Worf dealing with some big matter of galactic import that brings him out of retirement.

Like an invasion by Species 8472 or a renewed Dominion threat.

If he's an Ambassador, I think that would create tension as Riker definitely had his own way of doing things. As I recall, in TOS, Ambassadors on special missions could (and did) command captains to take certain actions -- whereas in TNG I don't think that was the case.

For the next series, I think I would prefer they focus on maybe the Romulans as the adversaries. They were the most mysterious and least used IMHO; and if Picard is an ambassador that would make sense.

The wife and I both never watched one episode of "Lost". Binging and think we are now on season 3. Pretty fun show, a lot of curveballs, very rediculous at times but I like that.

Also helps me watch with Evangeline Lilly. Damn is she fine.
Leftovers is Lost done right.

Leftovers is Lost done right.

Leftovers is the far better show holistically, but Lost is the more entertaining show for a casual watch.

At least for the first few seasons.

If you love being extremely disappointed by series finales, you have picked the right show.

The first few seasons of Lost are way better than the first season of the leftovers. The ending of the leftovers was way better than Lost, as was the last season. That being said Lost might be in my top 5 favorite shows of all time. I'm not sure the Leftovers is even close to that, it only being 3 seasons creates little attachment to any of the characters.

I just finished the Missing season 2. I thought it was better than season 1, which I think says alot because season 1 is very good. They are separate stories only connected by the same detective. I think it's one of the better tv series on amazon prime (originally on Starz and BBC). If you like Broadchurch season 1, this is a tv series for you.

The new look Data:

seriously, though: I imagine if they could keep making movies with the TOS cast, they can make new shows with TNG cast. They invented reasons for Kirk to end up on the bridge, but never really bothered with reasons the rest of the crew never really getting promoted. They didn't even bother to explain why Spock aged so much when he should have aged about half as fast as everyone else.

Data is really the only crew member who shouldn't age.

I really wanted to like lost but I couldn't

I too agree that the show was always overrated. I liked it but not nearly to the level that many did.

Season 2 has just been really odd.

I'm not a fan of shows, or any sort of material that is basically just a bunch of nonsense that keeps you guessing and then a bunch of big revelations at the end that make everything click.

That's what I felt Season 1 was, and while the payoff was decent, it wasn't as spectacular as it needed to be. Overall, the more I think about the show the sillier I find it.

Not sure I'll ever watch beyond Season 1.

Did you try to watch it recently or when it orginally aired?

I do think it was a show built for the time it aired. It was before any streaming or binging. Most people were still watching TV live and the ones who were DVRing it knew to watch it as soon as they could. People talked about it the next day and people would go into discussion on the internet with theories. That was part of the experience of the show.

The first season of Lost was spectacular. The second season, I thought, started off really weak. I absolutely hated how they would focus on small groups each of those first few episodes, especially since they started out season two focusing on the characters you were least interested in. It rebounded though after everyone started to come back together.

The problem with Lost was that it became clear over time that they didn't really plan any of the big answers. They just kept asking question after question and never really answered much, and then just tried to put it all together at the end to very disappointing results.

Also, fuck Jack. Hated that dude.

I think the constant questions with little answers was just their way to keep the show going. It was a tv movie to start and at some point they decided to make it a tv show. At that time, network tv didn't want shows to end. It wasn't a show that was going to make money in syndication and streaming wasn't a thing yet.

If it was made now, I think it would be 5 or 6 seasons. They would want a clearer line of thought to the overall story so it would have an wide appeal to streaming viewers.
