New TV Series to watch

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Getting out if the hospital today, had surgery and will be laid up for a week. Anything really binge worthy on Netflix these days? Is Ozark as good as I hear?
Did end up watching it? I saw the first couple of episodes and got bored by it.

Her last dude.

(waits for people to lose their shit)

Shes attractive, but if you're landing her you're in that league and you can get with other people that attractive. It's no longer that amazing.

And you can find 3 of her any time you go to your local gym. Doesn't mean she's not attractive.
The dude from Unthinkable. Great movie.

I got three episodes into season 2 and just haven't been able to push through since. Anyone else had this problem with Ozark? Is it worth finishing?

Also, any popular theories on what will happen in the True Detective finale next week?

Finished watching The Expanse Season 3 and going through some major withdrawal symptoms. Is there any other scifi series with the same level of visual artistry and story telling ? Recommendations welcome.

Altered Carbon has pretty amazing production values, although I don't think it's quite as good as The Expanse.

Netflix and Amazon are doing all the heavy lifting as far as giving content that is available in 4k as well as HDR. Prime video actually does shows with Dolby Atmos (Jack Ryan) and includes both Dolby Vision and HDR10+. Subscribing to those two networks is a must if you own a 4k set.

HBO is maybe the worst offender. They don't broadcast anything in 4k or hdr and their HBO go and now app sends 24 fps content at 60 hz. Hulu doesn't broadcast anything that i'm aware of at 4k (I know they use to but dropped it) but at least they will send 24 FPS content at 24 hz.

Finally got past the first episode and I liked a lot of the first season. Stuck not being able to pay attention to s2e1

The main problem with The Wire is that each season is more like a novel than a TV series. So they pretty much all have that slow build as you get to know the new characters (each season introduces a new set of them), they build the new case, and then you get the payoff at the end.

For what it's worth, I hated season two at first, but it is my favorite season now. Seasons three and four are both spectacular as well. The final season is the worst (note: not bad...just not as amazing as the first four) and the first season, while still great, isn't as good as 2-4 imo. Most people seem to like one of 2-4 the best. The final season does have a good finale, though. It doesn't resolve every issue, but it does tie a neat little bow on the series.

Leftovers was the same way for me but at least something absolutely grotesque happened in every ep to keep your attention

Also so many fucking characters to follow

That's why I've said The Wire is best on the first re-watch, because you basically know who everyone is at that point and can focus on the little details that you missed or didn't understand the first time around. It's similar to Arrested Development in that regard, although with AD the re-watches tend to be rewarding because the jokes fly so fast in that show that it's easy to miss some, especially the first time around.

Abducted in Plain Sight.....

What the fuck

This has to be one of the weirdest documentaries I've ever watched. The events that take place are almost so unbelievable, it seems like a parody.

This is a must watch for anyone with Netflix, just because of how crazy it is. I still can't fathom how gullible the parents were.
