Offseason Rumors

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
You think there's any chance we make a play for one of their outfielders?

Certainly, but I'm certain they won't be dealing any of the top three starters to do it.

The only two realistic options are Soler and Schwarber, the latter of which I'd love to have as a DH/1B.

Really not sure what the Cubs will do.

Assuming this means Baez starts in the minors while Zobrist plays 2B full time.

Even still, they've got Jason Heyward, Dexter Fowler, Jorge Soler and Kyle Schwarber for three outfield spots.

I've already completely talked myself into us making a deal with them so the eventual Davis-Almonte-Chiz OF will be even more disappointing.

FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal reports that Will Venable will be in Indians' camp Friday.
It sounds like maybe all he needs to do is take a physical before a contract is official. The terms of the deal aren't known. The Indians figured to bring in at least one outfielder this spring and Venable certainly is a fit, especially with his ability to play all three spots. The 33-year-old figures to supplant Abraham Almonte in center field and then likely share center with Rajai Davis once Michael Brantley (shoulder) is ready. Feb 26 - 8:38 AM

Bauer for Castillo makes a lot of sense, if they're buying that his offense isn't as bad as it showed last year.

If we take Castillo, we better be getting some prospects or another piece back for taking ~60 million off their cap.

And Bradley doesn't make much sense to me unless they have just straight up given up on Lonnie...another LHH in the OF makes little sense for us.

Even then I still wouldn't like it, to be honest...outside of Betts, I'm not a big fan of any of the Sox OF options. Bradley makes no sense unless Naquin starts in AAA or they give up on Lonnie, Chris Young is the definition of meh, Castillo is paid a ton and is still a pretty big question mark offensively...rather they stayed the course and made their move around the deadline if they are in position to contend.

The article states Red Sox would probably pay some of Castillo's salary. I'll post when I have a sec, working on about 5 different things at the moment :chuckle:
