olympic BASKETBALL!!

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Spain isn't as good as they once were, but damn, they are beautiful and fun to watch on offense.

He looks good when he's actually looking to score. He just unfortunately isn't doing that much in these first two games. He basically brings the ball up the court, makes his first pass, and rarely sees the ball again. I'd love for him to be more aggressive but a lot of players are deferring to Durant and Melo.

I've been underwhelmed with how we've looked offensively. A lot of one-on-one, dribble drive ball-hogging crap, which is leading to careless turnovers. Hopefully our team plays with a bit more focus tomorrow against Australia. They will need to.

The Delly VS. Irving matchup is upon us!

Irving has received so few passes, it's ridiculous.. So many ball hogs... And I understand Irving is wanting to defer to team ball because of Coach K, but c'mon...

I wouldn't have an issue if deferring was leading to good shots. However, if i have to see Jimmy Butler awkwardly dribble into double coverage doing his best D-Rose impression one more time, i might puke.

God forbid we actually try to run some set plays instead of playing ISO "We are USA, fuck these foreigners" ball. It's borderline disrespectful.

Yep... The team has been abysmal to watch... yet they win by 40+ anyways. Klay Thompson in particular has done his best Larry Hughes impersonation, complete with 1 on 4 pull up jumpers whenever he gets the chance. I honestly think a semi-close game where the opposition is within single digits in the 4th would do this team a ton of good.

The fucked up thing is, watching this as a Cavs fan (or just an NBA fan), it's fairly obvious that certain players are shutting Irving out on purpose -- this has been going on since the exhibition games.

I guess Coach K and Thibs thought that American pride would supersede their competitiveness; but some folks are just sore losers -- or in Durant's case, followers rather than leaders.

I think it was a poor idea to put so many Warriors on one team; particularly Draymond Green.

At least Draymond is still doing the things Coach K preaches. He passed out to Irving after securing a rebound and Kyrie nailed the open three last game and he's playing within himself. I honestly expected him to play more selfishly these first two games.

The guys who are driving me nuts are Thompson, Melo, and Durant. They're all ball-stopping. When the ball gets to them, you know it's going up, regardless of the look they're getting.

If i were Coach K, Id start Paul George over either Melo or Thompson. At least he brings defensive intensity from the jump and he's looked polished offensively as well.

These players who believe they've "earned" their right to jack up shots at the expense of getting the entire team in an offensive flow is driving me nuts. I expect it from Melo and Durant but Thompson needs to get his pencil-dick head out of his ass.

Glad I wasn't the only one noticing it. If Kyrie has the ball and passes it, he never receives it back under any circumstance. And if he doesn't have the ball he rarely ever receives a pass.

The Olympics so far have been a Durant, Melo and Klay chuck-a-thon. And that's not going to change unless there's a truly close/competitive game. And hopefully if that moment comes, we can see Irving shine.

For what it's worth.. Delly looked awful defensively. He was getting torched at times and couldn't get through screens. I'm thinking the FO concluded Delly peaked defensively vs. Golden State and what we saw last season was him returning to earth.

He's still the undisputed floater king though.

I hit disagree because the Serbian point guard looked good on offense in the first half, but it was all Serb big men scoring in the paint in the second half, when theu did score. Delly realized the Serbian guards had some offense, but didn't even try on defense in the second half. The Aussie defense figured them out, it just took a little while. He and Patty took advantage, blowing it open.

Fwiw I think kyrie took the most shots on the team last night at seven

The wings get the ball and just hog it.

It's crazy isn't it? Like, I've never seen Team USA play like this before. Quite often they would pass too much.

Probably the difference between having a older/veteran PG like CP3 and a young/rising PG like Kyrie. CP3 would probably say something to the guys about how they're playing and the players would listen. Kyrie probably isn't going to say anything to these older, more established players as long as the team continues rolling. And even if he did say something, would they listen?

The competition this year is way down compared to years past, so it likely won't matter. But it sucks for viewing purposes.

I'd like to reply constructively but finding a replay of the game online to do so is nearly impossible.
