On The Clock: 2017 RCF NFL Mock Draft

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Have a feeling in real life the Vikings try to draft him...feel like every year under Zimmer they spend a pick on an athletic freak LB for some reason, so I figured he'd be my pick in the 6th.

Well they did draft RB McKinnon who was a combine stud a couple seasons ago (aka I wanted him in Cleveland and not West). Now I don't know his character, but on paper he looks like a guy the Steelers need.

McKinnon, Danielle Hunter, Brandon Watts, Edmond Robinson, Stephen Weatherly...every year they try to grab a workout warrior for some reason. Can't teach athleticism I guess.

I sincerely would do the same especially with day 3 picks, but this is the Steelers I am running, so not exactly who they would choose, but I added a bit of my influence here.

31. T.J. Watt, LB, Wisconsin
63. Marcus Williams, FS, Utah
95. Howard Wilson, CB, Houston
136. Jeremy Sprinkle, TE, Arkansas

With the 174th pick in the RCF Mock Draft, the Atlanta Falcons select:

Sean Harlow - G - Oregon State

OVERVIEW
Football fans of a certain age remember Sean's dad, Pat, was an All-American tackle at USC and a first-round pick of the New England Patriots. The younger Harlow's toughness became evident over the past year, when he came back from a broken leg suffered halfway through the 2015 season to earn second-team All-Pac-12 honors at left tackle this year. He started seven games at the position at the beginning of his junior year and the final games on the blind side in 2016. Harlow practiced at every position on the line in 2014, starting all 12 games, five at right tackle and the last seven on the left side. The team had planned on redshirting him in 2013, even after he joined the team for the spring semester, but injuries on the line forced their hand. He started the final nine games of the year at right tackle.

ANALYSIS
STRENGTHS
Grinder who gives good effort in double teams and down blocks. Sinks hips into initial contact at point of attack. Plays with decent hand strength. Has some natural upper-body power. Able to lock-out and stalemate against power as base blocker. Keeps feet driving once he locks onto second-level foes. Looks to finish his blocks. Has taken multiple practice reps at center. Has experience at both tackle spots. Father, Pat, was an all-american offensive tackle at USC and a first-round pick of New England Patriots in 1991.
WEAKNESSES
Has short arms and operates with low hands pre-punch. Sluggish with eyes and feet. Gets behind in his blocks too often. Plodding feet create inefficient routes to his block. Legs straighten out after contact as run blocker. Struggles to control run blocks with hands due to lack of length. Bull-rushed the entire game by much smaller edge rushers. Struggles to drop anchor and fight back; could see the same results with move inside.
BOTTOM LINE
Lacks the length and athletic ability to play tackle at the next level and will have to kick inside. Shows some power at the point of attack, but needs to play with better bend after initial contact. Will be a little limited in space and his anchor problems as a left tackle will have to be vetted in pre-draft workouts after he kicks inside. Could be a serviceable backup with swing ability between center and guard.

1. Myles Garrett -EDGE - Texas A&M
18. Pat Mahomes - QB - Texas Tech
33. Obi Melifonwu - S - Connecticut
52. Kevin King - CB - Washington
65. Kareem Hunt - RB - Toledo
83. George Kittle - TE - Iowa
108. Chad Hansen - WR - Cal
142. Ryan Glasgow - DL - Michigan
145. Jerome Lane - WR - Akron

With the 175th pick in the RCF Mock Draft, the Cleveland Browns select:

SAMSON EBUKAM - OLB - EASTERN WASHINGTON

HT: 6'2" WT: 240LBS.

Samson%2BEbukam%2Bgreat%2Bget%2Boff%2Band%2Bsack%2Bdifferent%2Bangle.gif

Ebukam's path to the NFL is a long one that started in Nigeria, where he was born and lived until the age of nine, not learning English until after he arrived in the United States. He focused more on soccer, as well as track and field (shot put and javelin) before football and was only offered scholarships by two programs - EWU and Portland State.

Rather than redshirt to acclimate to the new surroundings and sport, however, Ebukam (pronounced "ay-boo-com") proved an immediate difference-maker for the Eagles, earning Second Team Freshman All-American honors as an edge rusher despite not starting a single game. Earning post-season honors became the norm for Ebukam, who was recognized with All-Big Sky accolades each year of his career with the Eagles, ultimately capping it off with career-highs in tackles (68), tackles for loss (13.5), sacks (8.5), fumble recoveries (three) and forced fumbles (two) as a senior, splitting time between "Buck" defensive end, outside linebacker, inside linebacker and even defensive tackle.

Though his lack of ideal size and level of competition are obvious concerns, scouts will be intrigued by Ebukam's raw athleticism and upside.

STRENGTHS: Boasts undeniable athleticism, including the quickness and mobility to potentially handle the conversion to an off-the-line linebacker role. Has a compact, well-built upper body with disproportionately long arms, which helps him generate power as a bull rusher, as well as slip blocks. Good initial quickness off the snap out of the three-point stance to cross the face of tackles and shows the agility and awareness to be quite effective looping back inside on stunts. Appears comfortable dropping back into coverage, showing the body control to change directions quickly as well as good speed and effort in pursuit. Good length and strength for the drag down tackle. May be only scratching the surface of his potential.

WEAKNESSES: Lacks the desired length and bulk to remain as a full-time defensive end in the NFL and is very raw as a linebacker, relying on his athleticism and motor to make plays. Too often is out of control as an edge rusher, allowing himself to get off-balance and knocked to the ground. Wasted motion as a pass rusher, flailing his arms rather than swiping away at the efforts of blockers to slow him. Needs to do a better job of anticipating and protecting himself against cut blocks.

IN OUR VIEW: Ebukam plays with a Tasmanian devil style of aggression and relentlessness that could earn him a spot on special teams while learning the nuances of the game. Until then, his burst off the edge could help as a pass rush specialist.

COMPARES TO: Marquis Flowers: Like the 6-3, 245 pound third year pro out of Arizona, Ebukam has athleticism, motor and frame to warrant a late round flyer in the hopes of developing.

Biggest Needs (my take):
ILB, OG, DE, WR, K

With the 176th pick in the 2017 NFL RCF Mock Draft, the Cincinnati Bengals select:

Zane Gonzalez, Place Kicker, Arizona State University

DAM130914008_Wisconsin_at_Arizona_St.jpg

Combine Measurements:
Height: 6’0
Weight: 202 lbs
Arm Length: 29 1/2 inches
Hands: 9 inches
Feet: Forged by Hephaestus from the iron of the gods

College Awards and Records:
2016 Lou Groza Winner
FBS All-time career record holder with 96 field goals

FBS All-time Kicker record with 494 career points
First player in FBS history with 20+ field goals each collegiate season
Most field goals by a freshman
Most field goals over 40 yards in a season
Most field goals over 50 yards in a season (7)
FBS record for career games with 4+ field goals (6)
FBS record for most 50+ yard field goals in a single game (3)
Career average of 9.7 points/game

My take: A kicker? You’re goddam right, a kicker. This kid is legit. He holds basically every statistical production metric record for an FBS kicker. He won the Groza his senior year, making 23 of 25 field goals in 2016—7 of 9 from 50+ yards—including a 59 yarder. 75% of his kick-offs in college were touchbacks. He has the big leg for the pros and projects to be a very good kicker at the next level. I liken him to Justin Tucker and what he's been able to do for the Ravens--cashing in points from deep after the offense flames out. This has contributed to many Baltimore smoke-and-mirrors-style close wins. Honestly, Zane is the best kicker in this draft class by a large margin—and let’s not forget that Roberto Aguayo went in the 2nd round last year. Them crazy Buccaneers. But here, at the end of the 5th, this kind of weapon may prove to be a bargain.

Why the Bengals? Because they NEED him like Tiger Woods needs them Perkins bitches. After my boy, Mike Nugent (who also was a 2nd round kicker), was cut after being too erratic to handle, Randy Bullock was signed as another erratic stop-gap. This team needs some late game consistency from their kicker, having lost multiple games last season on a late-game missed field goal attempt. I’m gonna throw “erratic” in here again for good measure. You know who isn’t erratic? Zane “Legatron” Gonzalez. That’s right. Legatron. The best kicker nickname in the business and the leg to back it up.

Expert Take via Lance Zierlein at NFL.com -

OVERVIEW
Gonzalez finished his career in Tempe as the FBS record holder for most field goals made with 96 (previous record of 88 held by Dustin Hopkins from Florida State) out of 116 attempts, an 83 percent clip. He won first-team All-American and All-Pac-12 recognition as a senior by connecting on 23-of-25 field goal attempts, including seven-of-nine kicks from over 50 yards (his previous long was 49 yards). Gonzalez ranked second in the FBS with 26 field goal makes in 2015, including a conference-record six-field goal effort against Cal. He's also boomed 126-of-167 kickoffs (75 percent) for touchbacks over the past two seasons. The Texas native was a second-team All-Pac-12 honoree in 2014 (22-of-27 FG) and first-team all-conference pick as a true freshman (25-of-30 FG, school-record 138 points).

STRENGTHS
Has a powerful lower body and gets good trajectory on long-distance kicks. Has continued to add size and leg strength. Nailed 13 or 15 kicks of 40-plus yards this season including seven of nine from 50-plus. Kicks have desired end over end rotation. Finished career as the 24th most accurate kicker in FBS history. Banged kickoffs into touchbacks at a rate of 75 percent over the last two seasons. Has good operation time with hasty approach to strike the ball. His obsessive-compulsive disorder helps to create an orderly approach that has in part led to his success.

WEAKNESSES
Uses altered follow through for shorter kicks. Tends to short-leg shorter kicks, causing some inconsistencies with his accuracy. Takes questionable angles in his pursuit of kick returners. Has allowed three kick returns for touchdowns over last two seasons. Kickoff hang-time was slightly below average.

NFL COMPARISON
Dustin Hopkins

BOTTOM LINE
Self-made, four-year starter who has steadily increased his kickoff distance and range as a field goal kicker. As the most prolific field goal kicker in FBS history, Gonzalez has a good chance of being drafted and becoming an instant starter.

Cincinnati Bengals Picks so far:

#6: Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama
#41: JuJu Smith-Schuster, WR, USC
#73:
Dorian Johnson, G, Pittsburgh
#116: Samaje Perine, RB, Oklahoma
#153: Avery Moss, DE, Youngstown State
#176: Zane Gonzalez, K, Arizona State

via trade: Sheldon Richardson, DT/DE, NY Jets

I’m pretty pleased with the draft now that we are complete through 5 rounds. The Bengals have upgraded at many positions of need, and many on this list would be expected to start or contribute greatly immediately. We also added an All-Pro DT to our front, in Richardson. The last few rounds, I would likely target additional OL/DL depth if we were to continue on. The late round slobs tend to be the best bargains in terms of developing and staying on rosters for years.

@getBUCKED and the Denver Broncos are now on the clock with the 177th pick in the 5th round.
@Stitches and the Miami Dolphins are on deck. We're getting close, fellas.

Trade Announcement:

The Broncos trade the Niners #177 for #186 in the sixth round and #219 in the 7th. Yes, @getBUCKED wanted to call it a draft and I jumped on it. Niners select:

Jermaine Eluemunor (OG)
HT: 6'4" WT: 332LBS.
POSITION: OG
SCHOOL: Texas A&M
ARM LENGTH: 33 1/4"
HANDS: 9 1/2"

jermaine3.jpg

Overview
Eluemunor (eh-LOO-muh-nor) grew up in North London, coming over to the United States at the age of 14. He played rugby in England but moved to wrestling and football in his high school days in New Jersey. He went to Lackawanna College in 2012 and 2013, earning second-team all-conference honors in his second season. Eluemunor redshirted in 2014 and was a back-up at right guard and he continued to learn the game in 2015. He finally got on the field in his final year, showing great promise while starting 12 of 13 games, three at right guard and nine at right tackle.

http://www.nfl.com/draft/2017/profiles/jermaine-eluemunor?id=2558257

Why?

The 49ers should be building for the long-term. Eluemunor has the size, strength, and light feet to make an impact in a year or two on the right side of the line. He just doesn't have as much experience as other prospects. Ever play rugby? You bash your head and body into other guys without pads and often without huddles. It's a tough guy sport, and Eluemunor is a tough guy.

DE Taco Charlton - Michigan
TE David Njoku - Miami
WR Chris Godwin - Penn St.
CB Rasul Douglas - West Virginia
QB Davis Webb - Cal
OT Will Holden - Vanderbilt
CB Damontae Kazee - San DiegoState
LB Blair Brown - Ohio U
RB Jeremy McNichols - Boise St.
OG Jermaine Eluemunor - Texas A&M

Dolphins and @Stitches on the clock.

Damnit, that was my pick.

Give me like 10 mins.

At 178, the Dolphins are going to draft for the future and take Aviante Collins, OL, TCU.

Will write up more later, when not at dinner.

With the 179th pick the Arizona Cardinals select: Carroll Phillips, Outside Linebacker, Illinois

He blossomed as a senior, garnering first-team All-Big Ten honors with 56 tackles, 20 tackles for loss (ranked ninth in the FBS), and team-high nine sacks.

Strengths
Flashed disruptive quickness against the run this season. Effective in stunt game with sudden inside charge off snap. Pursuit motor and effort are above average. Chases beyond line of scrimmage for the stop. Rarely misses the mark as a tackler. Closes out the ball as much as possible before chesting up the tackle. Good agility and lateral slide quickness to track down ball carriers. Closing burst has necessary acceleration. Has balance and redirection to play in space. Adequate burst into his rush. Should benefit from wider rush angle as an outside linebacker in the pros. Consistent production posting a sack in eight of his 12 starts in 2016.

Weaknesses
Just one year as a full-time starter. Thin lower body possesses no emergency brake when blockers start driving him off the edge. Will need to add mass and muscle to handle run-stopping responsibilities and that may take time. Hand usage at point of attack is poor. Needs to keep punch inside the frame to maximize his length. Needs to learn hand skills to counter early punches and reset into an advantageous position. Surprising lack of edge-bending in his rush. Face-up rusher who is often punched with shoulders still parallel to line of scrimmage. Tracks to quarterback are too linear and lack improvisation.

Damn, this is the fastest RCF draft to date! On my phone, so I will mot be able to provide incredibly sexy pics of Holmgren again - SORRY! I know it was a crowd pleaser!

With the 180th pick in The RCF Mock Draft - The Kansas City Chiefs select:

Jeremy Cutrer - Middle Tennessee
CB - 6'1 - 170 - SR

Write up later tonight! Trying to find nudes of Holmgren as well!

The Browns and @AZ_ are on the clock!
