Open Discussion (Cavs + related issues)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
I'm wondering if Love's defensive liabilities are a little overrated, given that our worst defensive outing of the season came in a game he only played 3 minutes in.

In fact, Love has the highest DRPM of any Cavs starter (which is pathetic), and the third highest DRPM of anybody who's played significant minutes for the Cavs this year (Wade and Calderon are higher).

I do think his defensive liabilities are overstated. He's shown a huge amount of improvement the last few years and is more mobile than he's given credit for. At the same time the fact that the Cavs have to trap every pick and roll he's involved in just puts a defense with a bunch of slow, aging vets at a huge disadvantage. And when you combine him with IT, who so far is playing the worst defense I can remember seeing in a long time, it's just a recipe for disaster.

Maybe the Cavs are just thinking:

Given that Love forces you to trap on pick-and-rolls anyway. Why not pair him with a terrible defensive PG (you are already going to trap, which limits the liabilities from your PG?

Of course, that forces the rest of the defense to be amazing -- and so far they've been terrible.

That's a good point actually.

Tristan Thompson - DNP-CD

That should be his role every night.

Note if we hope to trade him. His value will be worse than nothing then. Other teams have GOT to see him getting healthier, more agile, more "with it" if there's any hope of one of them thinking they have the right coaches or situation to allow him to return to his previous form. He won't, but they've got to think it in order to help make a deal happen.

Not true.

He was a hustle player who is still young. His athleticism didn't leave him, and he'll recover to 100%.

He has value. And, after next year he'll still be a young player AND an expiring contract. There are plenty of rebuilding teams who might eat his salary for an additional year, just to simply benefit from turning him into an expiring asset the year after next.

Woj bomb --- "emotional" Cavs team meeting, Kevin Love challenged for leaving OKC game and not practicing yesterday.

I don't have the tweet, but I just saw it.

Cousins 44/24/10

Remember people were saying they wouldn't give up the Nets pick for him? Fun times.

So Love is the fall guy? I wonder what Lebron is up too..or who he thinks is available.

I see Lbjs had one of his media guys talk to Woj

Naa. Its not LeBron.

His camp doesn't get along well with Woj. That is why Woj has these hit pieces on him from time to time.

Don't forget. A couple of weeks it was "LeBron holding the ball too much to hunt assists". Now this.

I hope I am wrong but this seems like its from the Boston guys.

If this is from the Boston guys, we have a spy on the team spilling stuff out. I'm thinking it's either Shump, or Jae. Don't think IT would do it after what they did to him.
