Open Discussion (Cavs + related issues)

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
The LeBron and bench crew lineups have bene getting rolled lately. Need to get Channing Frye back to where he was early in the season (completely understandable why he's been slumping, so I'm not trying to rake him over the coals), and find somebody to bump Liggins down in the rotation.

After reading some of the comments Lebron made, I think he wasn't happy with how the front office reloaded in the offseason. He just saw Terrence Jones go off on them and he was one of many talented players who were left having to take minimum contracts after all the money dried up. There are still point guards out there waiting to get back into the NBA and with how buy outs have gone for the Cavs in the past, I'm not sure waiting really does us any good.

I still think Lance Stephenson is the most talented guy out there right now and is worth filling the roster spot with. The question is if he has any interest from other teams or could the Cavs use 10 contracts to see if he is a fit both on the court and in the locker room.

yeah, they need something to move LeBron off the ball and allow him to create off-the-ball. W/O another ballhandler, it's too easy to defense second team; and honestly don't think Griffin (or Lue perhaps) sees a use for a rim protector. and I think it can be argued if the guys play hard and with purpose they can make it work without a rim protecting big. But they do still need to add SOMEBODY big just as protection and minutes-soaking.
They need to see the need for a rim protector..there's too much offensive bodies out there who don't/can't play defense.
They are giving up way too much points in the paint area.
TT has a hard enough time with bigger centers and he needs to get some breaks now and then.

What? If I had to make a list of this team’s most pressing needs right now, “bench scorer” wouldn’t even crack the top 5...

We have no one in the second unit who can get their own offense. Frye, Korver, Jefferson, Liggins....they're all players that need someone to set them up. So our second unit really stagnates because no one can handle the ball and create offense (other than LeBron).

Having someone like Barton would solve a lot of our problems. A scorer who can manufacture offense and actually be a threat with the ball in his hands. We just have a bunch of statues in the second unit and we're incredibly easy to defend without that second ballhandler who can press the defense.

I agree..Until they get another PG, they've to use Felder more, even if he is undersized and a rookie ..he's your ball handler for that second unit.
That said all of them need to give better effort on the defensive side of the ball..too much easy baskets, floaters coming from opposing players who wouldn't start for playoff teams.

They need an enforcer-type in the middle.

Pretty much stick Moz and Delly back on this team and our problems are solved.

Put a large body and a PG with a modicum of playmaking ability and we'd be fine.

It's just that these two guys didn't even play at the end of the season and teams offered them 10M+ a year pretty much. Now it's either spend, hope Griffin can blackmail somebody, or bring the buyout season two months early.

I agree they need someone in the middle..but until they get that player(if they do) they all need to play some D.

I feel like we won't see a new player till February 3rd, that way the front office can give that player two 10 day contracts and get to the trade deadline. That way they can attempt a trade and see how the buyout market looks. I wonder if any of the available PGs such as Chalmers, Cole, Jack, etc would take a 10 day contract.

Jesus tap dancing Christ not being able to bump the Kyrie thread right now is killing me

Incredible game by him, too. He single handily got us back in from a game down double digits, with 4 minutes to go. He was incredible.

He reminded me of LeBron James of the old Cavs. Surrounded by nothing, and having to carry the team by himself.

Kyrie is playing good ball since that nightmare road trip for him. It's everyone else that's playing bad.

Kevin Love has been so dreadful. LeBron is not defending anymore and turning the ball over.

The role players are slumping. I think people are overreacting a little too much, but yeah, we are flawed. And our lack of defense is well very troubling.

Wing defend and a defensive center is needed. That's why I don't really get the Korver trade. I don't think he was needed. He certainly hasn't solved our problems and thus far he's actually be less effective here than in Atlanta too.

I'm starting to sour on that trade a lot. Sure, at a value standpoint it wasn't bad. But we did give up an asset that might have been better used for someone that's more of a need.

I would have rather traded that pick for a defensive center/wing personally. Now, we can't. We are stuck with this team, and defensively were are still pretty awful. That's the major concern.

I'm not freaking out. It's just a mid-season lull brought about by a combination of untimely injuries, Mo being an asshat and putting the team in a terrible spot before the season started, general complacency, integrating a new part and a couple minor hiccups with the roster.

The only thing that really bothers me is LeBron going into DiVinci Code mode where he drops these little hints clearly directed at a particular player or front office person. Take care of that stuff behind closed doors man. It really doesn't have to be this dramatic.

Such is life with LBJ on your team, though. It literally happens every year on virtually every team he has ever been a part of.

Kyrie's handles are sick. I somehow think that if he can become more of a floor general as his career progresses he'll be even better.

I agree with the Korver trade idea - I don't think it was needed (especially right now). We have other holes to fill. We basically upgraded Dunleavy (slightly in the sense) and reduced our luxury tax (for now).

I'm sure some roster movements will be made sooner than later.

His defense was pretty bad this year before he got hurt.

Everybody's defense is bad to you.

You'll never get these players to defend harder and try harder if it's not a playoff game. JR will be the same guy that locked up Derozan come money time.
