Because I live in St. Louis, I sometimes watch Cardinal games (mainly when my roommates are watching them). Yesterday, the Pirates hosted the Cardinals (the defending Champs and division rivals) for only their second home game of the year. The attendance? A little under 12,500 (which is about 32% capacity). The weather wasn't great (44 degrees and cloudy at game time), but c'mon. The Pirates and Cards are playing right now, and the announcers have made many comments about the lack of fans in attendance. They'll be lucky if they draw 10,000.

I noticed somewhere else that the Steelers in 2006 had the 24th best (8th worst) percent capacity in the NFL (despite having one of the smallest stadiums in the league), the year after they were coming off of a Super Bowl win

This is all more amusing in light of the fact that almost 20,000 fans in Milwaukee showed up to watch 2 teams that they had no rooting interest in, but Shittsburgh can't even get that many to watch its hometown team play the defending champs. What a joke. Pittsburgh fans are horrible.

(Sorry that this is kinda off topic. All the OT forums say non-sports related, so I didn't want to post it there. Plus, this relates to baseball).

Add that to the fact that the Penguins might be on the move with the best player at 19 years old and they can't even get behind that team.

Good point, I totally forgot about the Penguins (mainly because I hate hockey). That city blows.

Yeah ill take the penguins man, crosby is a beast. If we had our own NHL team i would be more into hockey.

There's nothing pleasant about Pittsburgh... Except of course the Mario lemeuix celebrity golf classic at Nevillewood... The place where I got Jordan and Emmitt's autograph on the 18th hole..

My friends Dad played HS football for 4 years with Emmit..I saw the picture it was sweet.

Ive been to Pittsburgh a couple times for baseball in the new stadium, ive been to almost 20 parks, and that one is by far one of my favorites, aside from the historic stadiums.

Steelers won the Super Bowl and they had one of the dynastys in football, so they have somewhat of a leg to stand on. Pittsburgh is a football city, not baseball.

And the city of Cleveland and the city of Pittsburgh arguing is seriously like watching 2 crackheads fight to see who is "more of a crack heard"

They would have a leg to stand on if they showed up to games. I'm not criticizing their teams (even though I hate them), I'm criticizing their fans, who are among the most annoying in sports. That's why I mentioned how bad their NFL attendance figures were the year after they won a Super Bowl. Christ, the Browns have sucked, but we still get over capacity to every Browns game (100.5% capacity), in a much larger stadium.

What the hell does that even mean?

Pittsburgh = armpit of America

Im saying both citys have all kinds of problems with them, and both teams have had some pretty bad teams, but your teams match up with theres pretty well:

Penguins
Cavs

Both have a young phenom who is changing the game and making history

Browns
Pirates

Both teams had great players in the past but have been pretty bad for a while and have both had stars in the organization that are pioneers in the game, Roberto Clemente and Jim Brown

Indians
Steelers

Both have had dynasty type teams in there years, Indians of the 90s and Steelers of the 70s and 80s.

Your like mirror citys of each other...

How do you not understand that I wasn't talking about the teams, I was talking about the fans? Sometimes I wonder if you actually read what other people post...

Fans going to games? Well, they are a blue collar type city, so im sure its pretty hard to afford tickets, i think this was something that was mentioned when i brought up the whole "nobody goes to Indians games" thing.

The Indians sold out every game from mid-95 until 2001. 455 consecutive sellouts, a record that won't be approached for a long time (even by the Red Sox, despite having the smallest stadium in baseball).
