Who will win, Nuggets or Lakers?

Nuggets. That's my final answer.

Don't think the Nugs matchup well, nor am I convinced they'll stay composed when the going gets tough. You need a tough defense to beat LA, and Denver isn't totally committed to that end.

Lakers in 6.

I went with Denver in 6. I think they matchup well, actually, with the lakers.

Chauncey >> Fisher
Jones << Kobe (Though i love Jones' defense, and i like him on kobe, no homo)
Melo >> Ariza (though Ariza's defense can be pesky, even on a guy who scores like Melo)
Martin = Odom
Nene < Gasol
(Assuming bynum remains on the bench)

I predict J.R smith will have a terrific series and really kill the Lakers bench. He, Melo, and Chauncey on the floor together is just so dangerous. I also like what Birdman can do to disrupt some of the things the lakers will try and run at him inside. If anyone can stop the Lakers, Imo, it will be the Nuggets.

Lakers in 6.

You could say the exact same thing about the Lakers.

I am not convinced the lakers can stay composed when it gets tough. See Rockets series for examples. You need a tough defense to beat Denver, and L.A isn't totally committed to that end.

I don't think the Nuggets can beat the Lakers, i just don't see how they can..Even though the Lakers are inconsistent, but they still somehow get the job done..I think it will go to a game 7, but Lakers will definitely come out on top...The only way i see Denver winning this series is if they can use their athleticism and toughness, but the Lakers are a much bigger team all-around..

I really don't have a good feeling for this series, because of the question marks about the Lakers' consistency (choppy defense, giving up leads, bad bench), although they have handled the Nuggets pretty well (esp. at home). I could see it playing out like the Rockets series (Denver gets game 1, game 4, game 6 but in the end loses out, or perhaps the home team will win every game) but the Nuggets have been playing at a higher level recently, including some competent defense.

Should be a fun series. I hope it goes 7 and the Nuggets win but that seems like a very unlikely scenario. Much more likely for Nuggets to take it in 6 or the Lakers in 7 (despite the Magic/Celtics results tonight).

Nuggets in 6. Steal one of the first two, win out at home.

In six.....Stern doesn't get Kobe vs. LeBron but he'll be more than happy with the original projected rivalry, Bron vs. Melo.

You are not right. Making me want a late night snack. Well it's not exactly late since it's only 10:18, but still.

I think Denver's bench can really outperformed the Lakers bench all-around as long Anthony Carter doesn't get 20+ minutes playing time..He really screwed things up for the Nuggets, if they keep him on the bench, Denver will have a very good chance of beating LA..Birdman will step up, JR Smith will step up..Lakers doesn't really have any high energy guy on their bench except Lamar, (Maybe Shannon Brown)..If Nuggets can manage to get 40+ rebounds night in and night out, they can definitely win this series..But they have to attack the Lakers bigs and get them on foul trouble early..

Come on man, if you're going to call the Nuggets in six, at least use the appropriate picture...

Nuggets in 20?! What does that even mean?... :chuckles:

Bynum will probably start, as he has started to show signs of improvement. The fact remains that Bynum is definitely the biggest wildcard for the Lakers. Everyone thought that Bynum would be the difference for this year's Lakers team from last year, and thought that he would return to his old form of high efficiency. However, that has not been the case, but who knows. If he regains his confidence, it would be scary for the Nuggets.

However, I think Nene has improved his game as well, so I'm not sure the Lakers can necessarily win the battle in the paint even with a confidant Bynum and Gasol. K-Mart can definitely bring some intense physical presence to Gasol's face, who hates physicality. Melo as good of a pure scorer as anyone in the league, so I think he and Bryant pretty much cancel each other out. What's left is the biggest advantage for the Nugs...Billups. If Billups plays like Billups, it's pretty much over for the Lakers, and I haven't even mentioned the Denver bench yet.

Denver in 6, easily.

Birdman and JR Smith will be a huge boost for the Nuggets off the bench..

If the Nuggets beat the Lakers, we win the championship, easily. The Lakers are the ONLY team in the NBA that is capable of beating us in a 7 game series. I say that not because of regular season results, but because of defense. The Lakers are capable of playing suffocating defense, while the Nuggets can't. Ariza and Kobe can slow LeBron down, but there isn't anyone on the Nuggets who can do that. That in itself is why Denver won't win championship, but have a great chance of beating the Lakers in the WCF.
