Ok kids, we have a hypothetical here…

In this corner—-You have a 22 year old, All Star Point Guard who very well within a season or 2 could be the very best point guard in the entire league. Maybe even a top 5-10 player in the entire league.

He’s humble, everyone likes him, he’s fun to watch, skilled beyond belief and plays big in the 4th quarter…. Literally just scratching the surface of what he can be from arguably the most important position on the floor….Plus, it’s a guard’s league…

In the other corner you have a damn 20 year old unicorn…. A 7’0” big man who is so ridiculously talented for his age that it’s scary…. Nowhere near yet what he potentially can be from a front court position…. Then again, maybe he doesn’t get there ? Maybe he doesn’t develop a consistent jumper or plays with aggression. But then again if he does develop to what the projections are the sky is the limit…. However, he is a big. And again it’s a guards league….Another humble, high IQ, great player.

Obviously this an amazing problem to have since we can keep both….

But if you’re choosing to keep just 1, who is it ?

Players with Mobley's defensive instincts and raw ability are generational.

Mobley has a chance to be in "all time" territory when he hangs them up.

The fact that this team is able to pair him with a top ten PG already in this league is incredible.

You were just looking for a reason to post the ass slap. Man I miss Wally.

The answer is DG.

I go with him due to what I see as their bodies of work, and their ability to play for *most* of that 10 year contract. I'm talking risk of injury and size, as Mobicorn has not yet developed his quads. DG seems like he will be a consistent double double machine, orchestrating the offense with anyone along his side. Mobley needs someone to help him reach his heights (DG).

Who would you take between CP3 or Nash and Kevin Garnett?

Looks like Evan has been LMAO too many times…

I think right now DG is in the lead, if only because he has already taken the step towards stardom. Even if he just stays flat from where he is today he is a 20/8/3 player, but i dont think 23/9+/4 is that unlikely and there is no reason he cant shoot 3s at 40% (i was shocked when i saw it was only 37). To give an comparison his current numbers put him squarley with the likes of nash and CP3, 2 HoF PGs.

Mobley has a chance to be absolutely something special and dominant on both sides of the ball for 15 years, and absolutely has the higher potential ceiling. However being as he hasnt taken the jump yet (yeah its still really super early in his career), I wouldnt want to bank on potential versus a player that is already an allstar.

That said ask me again next year at this time and I fully expect Mobley to start to have taken the leap

What a great question. It's like asking which of your kids you'd pick.

Gun to my head, I'm taking Mobley, and I say that as somebody who loves Garland. Mobley is the key to everything this team does on defense (at age 20!), and he's already decent on offense (with signs of developing into a KG/Bosh level threat down the line).

If this makes sense: I think Garland will someday be discussed as one of the top 10 players in the league. I think Mobley will be discussed as one of the top four or five.

Yep

I would go with DG just because I am a sucker for good PG play. Can't lose with either, IMO. They both seem destined to be stars.

We've had Kevin Johnson, Mark Price, Terrell Brandon, Andre Miller, Kyrie Irving, and Darius Garland all as All Star-level point guards.
Point guards are much easier to find than Baby Giraffes.

MOBLEY.

Eat that ass: turns out Andre Miller never was an all star. ROBBED.

right now the poll is 21-2 Mobley. I expected Mobley to be in front but not at a 10-1 shot.

im reminded of the family guy skit.

"Now hold on, Lois! A boat's a boat, but the Mystery Box could be anything! It could even be a boat!"

But in the same time period (or we’ll say 25 years) teams like the Pacers, Magic, Knicks they’ve not had elite PG play… Some serviceable guys like Tinsley & Nelson & Marbury, Rose etc…. Cavs have just been very fortunate enough to have pretty good PG….

Ironically enough it took forever to get when we had Bron the 1st time.
