I figured this needed its own thread since talk about the subject is brought up everywhere. Plus I just like stirring the pot. :D. I'll post some ideas later since I'm at work. Where (other than in Cleveland) could we send Varejao, and for what. Why does that trade work?

People thought the 2012 draft thread when it was started was too soon, but look at it now. Varejao could be moved any time this season, not just at the trade deadline. With a shortened season, the trade deadline isn't nearly as far off as the 2012 draft, and this thread was started a full 6 months after that thread.

dallas would be a great fit for varejao. the league wouldn't know how to react when the mavs win a championship with two white guys on the frontcourt

as for making a whole trade situation, i dont know

Dallas would be a great fit, but they dont have anything we could use, nor do they have their first rounder. Not to mention they have stated that they want to save as much cap for next summer as possible.

This is one of those situations that we should probably get value for a player before hes too old, but likely wont happen.

I keep thinking about the Dwight Howard trade discussions earlier this month where D12 was headed to NJ in a 3 team trade. The Blazers were reportedly set to receive MULTIPLE 1st round picks for Gerald Wallace. Something like 3 of them

Now, were they top-20 picks in the 2012 Draft? Nope, but the Blazers also reportedly weren't taking back any salary this year or in future years. A positive for those picks would be that they'd more than likely lack protection. So even if we had to wait a few years to get them, they might pay off as assets down the road. Maybe in the mold of the T-Wolves pick that New orleans now owns?

When you look at their reported desire to keep the team competitive for the next few years as the Magic roll into their new arena, it might make sense for them to seek a guy that could fit into their timeline. AV would probably do that, and their frontline would have some versatility with Lopez/AV/BigBaby/Anderson. Lots of complementary pieces there at the PF and Center positions

Atlanta, Boston, Houston, Philly, Portland, San Antonio, and Toronto could also be good fits or have shown interest in the past ... and have decent enough assets to consider them a possible destination

Trade Andy to the Bulls for Taj Gibson and Ronnie Brewer. Taj is a great young player with alot of potential and Brewer is a great wing defender and is athletic. But could you imagine Andy and Noah playing together :eek:mg: That tandem would be one of the best defensive, offensive rebounding low posts in the league.

the nets still have there 2012 pick when they try to get howard in free agency or williams to stay having av is better than having another rookie to there team

I said this in another thread but:

Remember the cp3 to LAL trade, where Houston gave up Martin, Scola, Dragic, AND THEIR 1ST, for Gasol?

Well since Gasol was unattainable, Im sure they would settle for Andy, for just the 1st. They may even throw in a 2nd rounder as well.

Although, if they were a perrenial play off team before, im pretty sure AV gets them over the hump. Good for them, but lessens the worth of the pick.

Thoughts??

gasol can averag 20-25 points a night. AV cant. Martin was able to be included because less reliance on his outside scoring with an inside scorer on the court.

Houston says no to AV.. Cavs say yes

Tornicade will go on suicide watch after Andy is traded.

Boston is the best fit imo. Hopefully it can happen.

Cleveland.

Boston has traded two good bigs, and they're feeling the pain. They could definitely use Andy, and, with their time to get another championship dwindling, they'd be desperate enough to trade for Andy. I'd like to get Jeff Green + a first, but I'd take even their first. The Celtics might be a 6th-8th seed if they keep on going the way they're going. I know Pierce is out, but still.
