Preseason Game 2: Bears at Browns 8/27/22

Do Not Sell My Personal Information
Was Stefanski being very vanilla with the playcalling because it’s preseason?

He might have been but I don't think he has the mismatches that he had last year. With the current depth at WR and TE, he really doesn't have the depth to create mismatches by putting multiples of one type of player onto the field. We really don't have that one extra speed WR, big WR, or TE that a typical defense can handle.

Yes, but Brissett's a very vanilla QB too so I don't expect massive changes.

Generally speaking, I expect the offense to look a lot like last season's only with fewer interceptions.

Brissett's just not really wired for big plays in the passing game and the Browns don't really possess that J'Marr Chase caliber "here's the ball, go get it regardless of where it's thrown" kind of player either.

Brissett lives off checkdowns, but he has a better arm than Case Keenum. Once Amari Cooper is on the field, I think he will occasionally stretch the field to keep a defense honest.

agree with this and CBBI's comment before this.

I thought Keenum should have started the rest of last season after the Donkeys game before injury took him out for this very reason. Browns would have probably won a couple of those games that would have put them ahead of the Steelers.

Browns lack a "F.U." receiver. but to be fair, that player would have cost Tyreek Hill money (and Tyreek Hill is one of the players who fits that description currently). To be fair, the Cheatriots don't have such a WR and yet, Belicheat put MacCorkle in position to do that very sort of offense against the Browns to success last season.

They can probably do some things with Cooper and DPJ.
